Private room in a leafy treehouse apartment

A private room with tree-top views in a secure apartment shared with the owner. This room is perfect for the medium to long-term visitor looking to get to know the area or in town for a work sabbatical.
The apartment is halfway between Ashfield's dumplings and Haberfield's Little Italy with delicious pasta and biscotti. About a 10-15 min walk each way.

The space
The room is on the third floor with tree top views. It has a very comfortable double bed which is easy to fold up into a sofa to provide more space for the sit/stand desk (no springs, I've slept on it long term, definitely not your average sofabed). There is a built-in wardrobe with plenty of hanging and drawer space. A spare music stand for any musicians and I have a sewing machine available as well.
The stunning pink shared bathroom is between your bedroom and mine. The kitchen and living areas are comfortable shared spaces. The living area and balcony looks out into the canopy of a Jacaranda tree. A beautiful outlook at all times of the year but for November visitors you will get to enjoy the stunning purple flowers. I have steadily improving balcony and kitchen window gardens with herbs and some vegetables that can be used in small amounts to supplement meals.
There is an external laundry shared by the apartment block. The washing machine and dryer cost $2 - 2x $1 coins are required. There is a parking space is available for use. The apartment is smoke free ie no smoking.

Other things to note
I have tea and other basic food items that I'm happy to share in moderation. Use my stuff, buy stuff to share. Finish it, replace it.
I don't drink coffee - to all coffee drinkers, I highly recommend you bring your preferred coffee and coffee maker. There is a great cafe on the way to Ashfield for emergency coffee addicts and I'm sure Haberfield has the best Italian coffee in Sydney.

The neighbourhood
My place is located in Ashfield, New South Wales, Australia.
It's a great location as it is half-way between Ashfield dumplings and Haberfield Italian. Lots of yummy food options. Not many shops directly near the apartment but there is a corner store 5min walk away for milk and other small items.
For those keen on running it's about 20min walk (faster to run...) down to the famous 'Bay Run'. About an hour fast walk around the Bay Run which is extremely popular with runners, joggers and cyclists.

Getting around
To Sydney Uni - get the 461 bus from nearby Parramatta Rd - entire journey walk included should take about 30mins.
Ashfield Train Station is a 12min walk. From Ashfield Train Station it is a 15-20min train ride into Central Station in the city (also stopping at Redfern for those walking to Sydney University).
I find Ashfield really safe to walk around. I walk home late at night from the train and have never had any problems. Everyone has their own safety levels - use your own judgement. There are almost always taxi's at the Taxi rank on the south side of the station - these are about $7 to the apartment. Uber works too.
The St John's church has an amazing historic cemetery and beautiful grounds. Up to you whether you believe in ghosts and want to walk through there at night, otherwise I know of nothing untoward happening there.

About Me
Professional female working in environmental and cultural management. PhD in Biology. Likes traveling, books, music, food, beer and wine. Regular kayaker and very poor soccer player. Sydney live music - can tell you where to go for jazz, alt rock, heavy metal, shoegaze, etc (may tag along if you are going to a good gig, you are welcome too). Home life: I own and live in the apartment so you will be sharing with me. I have rented through sabbatical homes in London when I was on a study/holiday. I occasionally like cooking up big - you will get to enjoy the delights, home made bread, ricotta, curries, brunches (apologies in advance for the dishes). Too much tea, bring your own coffee. Work too much with a lot of procrastination in between, occasional netflix binge, pottering around my many plants (fresh herbs on the balcony or kitchen window, help yourself), occasional craft, sewing, making adventures.

Thalie Partridge was a really terrific tenant. She was very respectful of our home and looked after it really well, including our garden. When we returned the house was spotless and in perfect condition. She took on board everything that we told her about how to look after the house and keep it secure and followed our instructions meticulously. She was very easy to communicate with: she responded promptly and helpfully to any message that we sent and was proactive about contacting us to make sure that we were kept up-to-date with anything relevant to our property/the tenancy.
