Central Athens - a peaceful haven just 15 min walk from the buzz of Syntagma

[COVID-19 note: Athens and Greece are still under second-wave lockdown as at 18 Feb 2021. The vaccine is currently rolling out in Greece, and we hope to have better news by early March. We look forward to receiving any enquiries now for the spring months.]

This is a spacious 70 sq. m. 1-bedroom apartment in central Athens that was recently renovated throughout. It is located on the first floor of a small apartment building in a quiet and attractive street. The neighborhood is 15 min walk from Syntagma Sq., and 25 min walk from the American and British Archaeological Schools and the Gennadion Library, and close to public transport routes for reaching other key university and academic institutions in Athens. The Acropolis Museum and metro station are also within a short walking distance from the property. The neighborhood is very friendly, and a popular residential area for artists and writers. Just a few meters from the flat there is a traditional grocery store/delicatessen and bakery, while there is plenty to choose from in the way of bistros, coffee shops, bars and family-run restaurants nearby.

The apartment is fully furnished and has a brand new double bed. The kitchen and bathroom have been fully upgraded with modern conveniences. The stylish furnishings are in keeping with the early 1960s style of the building. The apartment has independent heating, air-conditioning and ceiling fans, as well as solar-heating that provides a plentiful supply of hot water. Although located on the first floor the flat is nonetheless bright and airy, and its light, positive atmosphere and great location is what made its owners decide to renovate it with such care. The terrace at the top of the building is an ideal place to survey the Athens cityscape and marvel at the Acropolis and the hum of this enervating, sizzling city that is both young and very, very old. Wifi is included.

About Me
I'm originally from London, but have lived in Athens for over 30 years. My academic past includes the Uni of St. Andrews, King's College London, the Uni of Ioannina, Princeton and the National Hellenic Research Foundation. Although I work outside academia, I still write and research in the field of medieval Greek, and occasionally participate in related symposia and conferences. My travels have included the Outer Hebrides, the Orkney Islands, most of the Aegean Islands, and many other parts of the world.
