View East Vineyard, Waiheke Island

Located at the rural, eastern end of Waiheke Island (Auckland, New Zealand), View East Vineyard, a 7.25ha property with approximately 4000 Syrah vines , offers tranquillity, wide open spaces and long vistas.

Sitting on a ridge overlooking some of the vines, the home enjoys breath-taking views that encompass 180° from the Waiheke Chanel, Ponui Island, Omaru Bay, the mainland and west to the Te Matuku Bay wetlands and bush clad slopes of Waiheke’s highest point, Maunganui.

Surrounded by a delightful landscaped garden which includes over twenty varieties of mature Magnolias and Michelias, terraced grass paths meander through an underplanting of flowering shrubs, grasses and groundcovers. Wander along these to the orchard and vegetable gardens, pockets of regenerating native bush, the vineyards or the small timber blocks which the local Kaka enjoy.

With timber flooring throughout, the heart of the home is bookended by a northwest wing of two bedrooms and bathroom and the owner’s wing to the southeast. The latter includes a wide gallery providing access to the spacious main suite of bedroom, ensuite and dressing room, plus a study and laundry.

Open plan living and kitchen open directly through bifold doors onto a partially covered courtyard garden with rustic pizza oven offering total privacy. Here’s the place to relax with friends and enjoy a glass of your own wine with the scent of the star jasmine and the calls of the local birds in the background. Or sit out on the generous wrap around deck and take in the magnificent views and watch the sun set across the island.

About Me
With a background in Fine Arts and a post graduate degree in Landscape Architecture and after working for over 22 years as a Landscape Architect in multidiscipline private practices I decided to return to study. I have recently completed a two year fulltime Diploma in Ceramics and am now continuing with my own ceramics practice while I also tutor in ceramics at a private Art School. While also working as a Landscape Architect my husband and I developed a boutique vineyard and Tasting Room on Waiheke Island. View East Vineyard, a 7.25ha property with approximately 4000 Syrah vines (currently under lease management), offers tranquillity, wide open spaces and long vistas.
