Charming, Historic, Central 2-Bedroom close to Universitat de Barcelona, located in St. ANTONI the "NEW BROOKLYN" of Barcelona

A PERFECT BASE FOR YOUR STAY IN BARCELONA.

The St. Antoni district is now considered one of the most exciting in Barcelona and has been called, the "NEW BROOKLYN" of Barcelona. With many new trendy and traditional restaurants, tapas bars, cafes, boutiques all within a 2 block radius, plus the famous Market of St. Antoni, and a location right beside a metro stop (L3), this is an ideal location for your stay in Barcelona.

THE APARTMENT

An authentic example of classical Eixample architecture with floor to ceiling glass doors opening onto balconies in both the living room and bedroom. Built around the same time as the Mercat de Sant Antoni, it evokes another era with its 10 foot ceilings and exposed wooden ceiling beams. The Viola apartment merges tradition with modernity and is very bright, comfortable and inviting. We have recently installed parquet flooring, and repainted the apartment.

This apartment is perfect for 2 or 3 people and can easily accommodate a couple with one or two children or two couples. The main bedroom has an 2M long double bed and direct sunlight from the balcony. It is accessed through elegant tall double doors from the living room. Also off the living room, through beautiful double glass engraved doors, is a small den with a built in armoire, a double bed and a security safe. The living room is a comfortable size where you can relax and enjoy music, watch your favorite DVD or surf the net with our dedicated WIFI. The apartment is well cooled and heated with air conditioner/heat pump controlled from the living room. Freshly laundered linens and towels are provided for all rentals. We use Hotel Style Comforters, which means a freshly laundered sheet enclosure for each new guest (not shown in existing photos.)

The kitchen is spacious, bright and is fully equipped with stove, oven, fridge, toaster, coffee maker, kettle, etc. Here you will also find a table with four chairs and its own small lamp for intimate dinners.

The 5-piece bathroom is also very spacious and charming with large frosted glass double doors providing natural light. The galleria is accessed through the double doors where you will find the washing machine and a place to dry your clothes.
Please note, this apartment is on the second floor (real third) with NO elevator, but the staircase is relatively wide and well lit with an overhead skylight.


THE NEIGHBOURHOOD

Located in the Sant Antoni district of the Eixample. This is a friendly, safe and intimate neighbourhood with many shops, typical restaurants and the famous Mercat de Sant Antoni (undergoing renovations and reopening spring 2018), a beautiful historic building completed in 1896. Here you will find just about anything, from fresh produce to clothes, shoes, etc, but of particular importance is the Sunday morning market famous for antique and used books, stamps, posters, etc. (there is also a convenient supermarket right beside the apartment.) The St. Antoni district is now evolving into a mecca for restaurants and tapas bars. On Parlament, one street south there is a large collection of new, funky tapas restaurants and bars. In fact this area is now becoming a destination in Barcelona for locals and has been described as the "New Brooklyn" of Barcelona. Nearby, Plaça Catalunya and Las Ramblas are a short 15 to 20 minute walk or 5 minutes on the metro (L2) right at your doorstep. Just above Plaça Catalunya you will find Passeig de Gràcia famous for its modernist architecture and in particular Gaudí’s buildings, Casa Batllo and La Pedrera. The Eixample is well known for its wide streets and beautiful architecture.

Also very close to the Viola apartment (10 minutes walking) is Plaça Espanya where you will find the National Museum of Catalunya, well known for Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque art. Outside the museum you can view the spectacular light/music/fountain display on weekend evenings. Other attractions include Poble Espanyol and the Olympic Stadium. The convention centre of Fira de Montjuïc is also conveniently located here. The newly build "Las Arenas" used to be the bullfight arena, and is now a beautiful shopping centre.
In the nearby Parc of Montjuïc, you can visit the FundaciÓ Joan MirÓ. To get there one takes a really fun funicular ride, which leaves from metro Paral.lel (L2) located 5 minutes walking from the Viola apartment.

When you stay at our apartment, the "Viola", you will be staying in the real Barcelona, close to everything but located in a friendly authentic Catalan neighborhood, where you can enjoy discovering hidden local restaurants and shops.

GETTING AROUND

We are located directly on L3, with a metro stop at your door. This line takes you directly to the Ramblas in 3 minutes, and to Passeig de Gracia. You may also walk to the Ramblas in about 15 minutes, passing through Raval. Also Plaza Espana is an 8 minute walk away, and has excellent direct bus connections to the airport via, http://www.aerobusbcn.com/



OTHER THINGS TO NOTE

There is no elevator in this building. We are on the 3rd floor but the staircase is spacious and well lit. Please note that there is a 20 Euro charge
if you arrive at the apartment after 8 pm. That fee is payable directly to the agent doing the check in. A baby crib is available, on rental basis from our check in agency.


HOUSE RULES

No loud parties please, and we prefer no smoking or that you smoke on the small balcony off the living room, or the balcony at the back of the apartment.
