Beautiful Victorian Cottage located on Historic Riverfront Estate (Gardens, Fields, Woods, Porches, Wood burning Stove)

Perfect retreat in Bucks County, PA. Located 5 mins from an Amtrak and Septa Regional Rail Train Station commuting by train is easy to all locations. Center City Philadelphia is a 25 min train ride, and New York City by Amtrak service is roughly 75 minutes. Access to I-95 is also within 5 minutes.

This one of a kind cottage was built in the 1860's and is the perfect escape from the city while remaining highly accessible to Philadelphia, Princeton and New York City.

The house sits on a large historic Delaware Riverfront estate which dates back to the 1700's. One of the last large parcels intact in the Philadelphia area, the wooded grounds and gardens are incredibly special and there are only a handful of houses dotted about the property. It is very rare to see others from the house and you have freedom to roam about the woods, fields, paths and riverfront. Once you are on the estate, as you drive down a private wooded lane you will instantly feel far removed from the city. The house looks out onto a large wooded area. The side and back yards are adjoined by large meadows with plentiful wild life (foxes, deer, hawks, turkey and many other wonderful birds). There are beautiful perennial gardens and a large fenced in organic vegetable garden. There is a screened in back porch with views towards the field. The large covered front porch looks onto the woods. There are two large bedrooms with Victorian windows and two very large bathrooms upstairs. The washer and dryer are located on the second floor. Downstairs there is a large kitchen, dining room, living room and office or family room. Each room has multiple large windows with lovely natural light. The house has beautiful hardwood floors, high ceilings and a large kitchen with two stoves and large modern refrigerator. From all four sides there are numerous windows and wonderful views of the many old growth trees including oak, walnut, pine and wisteria. The house has many charming historical details yet has a clean modern feel. There is a wood burning stove which further adds to the retreat like vibe of the property. It burns very efficiently providing a lovely source of additional heat in the fall and winter. The house is available unfurnished, partially or fully furnished. This house is incredibly comfortable in multiple configurations depending on your specific requirements.

The river is a short 3 minute walk down a wooded path. Renters will have access to the main estate which includes lovely botanical gardens and lovely paths. In all four seasons the house offers lovely and private access to nature and the changing seasons. It offers a very rare chance to feel as if you are on a very secluded rural property while maintaining close connection to the city.

This is an incredible place for creative work. It feels as if one is on a residency similar to a MacDowell Colony type experience yet you can easily access Philadelphia or New York whenever you'd like. Closer than an upstate New York property from New York City this house would be a perfect weekend artist retreat or a great place to embark upon a longer term project which requires space, privacy and plenty of nature for quiet contemplation and reflection. I am an Architect and Designer and this house is incredibly comfortable in multiple configurations depending on your specific requirements.
