My academic work was in Political Science and Librarianship at the University of Wisconsin, Madison B.A., 1957, University of California, Berkeley, M.A., 1960, and MLS, 1966. My publications are chiefly on bibliographical studies in African Studies, publishing and the book trade in African Studies, and international cooperation in librarianship. I have travelled to fifty countries in Europe, Africa, Asia, and Central and Latin America. Since I retired from UCB in 2005, I have served for ten years on the boards of the United Nations Association and for six years on Developing Indigenous Resources, an NGO operating outside Chandigahr, India.
