Unusually spacious 1 bedroom apartment on 3rd (top) floor of classic 1920's Berkeley building. Decorated with vibrant color. Located in the heart of Elmwood, a short walk to cafes, coffee houses, Boichick Bagels, boutiques & public transport. Leave your car behind!

- 12 blocks (1.4 miles, 27 minutes' walk) from the UC Berkeley campus
- Convenient bus routes along College Avenue to the campus and to all 3 Berkeley BART stations
- 13 minutes' walk to the Rockridge BART station (0.6 miles)
- 10 minutes' walk (0.5 miles) to Alta Bates Hospital
- Easy and close freeway access

The neighborhood:
Many small coffee and tea houses, bakeries, delicatessens, old-fashioned butcher and fishmonger, numerous restaurants, bookstores, boutiques, organic ice cream, bagels, specialty food stores, a newly renovated Safeway super-store and a Trader Joe's are all within easy walking distance on College Avenue. Whole Foods is half a mile away at Ashby and Telegraph. You can manage without a car - or rent one on an as-needed basis from nearby locations of Zip Cars or City Car Share.

The Apartment
- Tastefully furnished and colorfully decorated with vibrant artwork.
- Eat-in kitchen is fully equipped with a black slab granite countertop and a dishwasher; all cooking equipment, dishes, glassware, and utensils are provided.
- Living/dining room is comfortable for relaxing, with a work desk as well as a dining table.
- Cable TV and hi-speed wi-fi. Printer/scanner can be provided on request.
- Bathroom has a bathtub, over-the-tub shower, and original 1920s art deco tiles.
- Bedroom has a queen-size bed.
- Lots of closet and cupboard space.
- Floors are refinished original hardwood throughout, except in the kitchen and bathroom which feature designer tile floors.
- A semi-private coin-op washer and dryer are located close by on the 3rd floor by the rear stairs.
- If you have a car, parking is at the rear of the building on a first-come first-served basis.
- The front and back entrances of the building, and the interior common hallways on each floor, are equipped with security cameras for guests' protection. The cameras are on 24 hours a day. (Note: There are absolutely NO cameras inside the apartment!).


Price
• Our rate is all-inclusive. We pay the Berkeley business license tax and the rent registration fees, but those items are not charged to you.

Cleaning and disinfecting

The apartment will undergo a deep cleaning and disinfection before a guest’s arrival, using the CDC guidelines. In addition to the CDC-standard cleaning, we use a BioSpray Surface Cleaner and Sanitizer system. Here’s a quote from their website:

“The quick-drying BioSpray D2 removes residual moisture from surfaces and is recommended for use as a sanitizer on food processing equipment, dairy equipment, food utensils, dishes, silverware, glasses, sink tops, countertops, refrigerated storage, and display equipment and other hard nonporous food contact surfaces. Lab calibrated spray-and-shoot technology for more effective coverage, reaching inside even the smallest cracks and crevices, with better results than manual sprayers or wipes.”

Also
“BioSpray D2 is a combination of isopropyl alcohol and a powerful quaternary ammonium compound.” It is a hospital-grade disinfectant and is “included on EPA list of disinfectants for use against SARS-COV-2 (Search EPA# 73232-1).”

The Fine Print:
• No smoking anywhere in the apartment or the building! It's prohibited by Berkeley law in multi-family buildings. We don't allow smoking of any kind, including "vaping" (e-cigarettes).
• Please remove your shoes, or wear soft shoes or slippers inside the apartment. The apartment has hardwood floors, and your downstairs neighbors will appreciate your efforts to reduce the sound from footsteps and other activities where the noise may carry.
• Please don't use the dishwasher or do laundry after 10 PM.
• Please, no parties or other loud noise. This is a quiet residential building, and we want to keep it that way!
• Sorry, no pets.

Originally from the UK, I have 2 (!!) graduate degrees from UC Berkeley - an internationally renowned university in a vibrant city – a community with innovative restaurants, serious coffee houses, arts and cultural events, intriguing architecture, and many parks for outdoor activities. It enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate – summers are cooler and winters are milder than most of the rest of the US. It’s across the Bay from San Francisco and is accessible by car across the Bay Bridge or San Mateo Bridge – by BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) under the Bay – or by ferry at Jack London Square in Oakland. It's also a 4-hour drive or scenic 8-hour train trip from the Reno/Tahoe area.
