Bright spacious Schlachtensee apartment in Berlin Zehlendorf - newly renovated and fully equipped

The apartment is on the elevated ground floor of a beautifully restored historical building in Zehlendorf. It consists of a hall, a large living/dining space, an adjacent kitchen, an even larger master bedroom (king size bed) including a space with a desk, and a bathroom - high ceilings with stucco, very spacious with large windows facing East and South. It looks over a green garden with old trees where the tenants can put a table and chairs.

It has been completely renovated in 2017/2018 and a new kitchen with all appliances has been installed. It is tastefully furnished with modern classics (LeCorbusier, Arne Jacobsen, Egon Eiermann) and decorated with exclusive materials like Bisazza glass mosaic and art nouveau tiles. Original details have been restored like hardwood floors, beautifully designed doors and solid brass handles. A basic library provides English and American books.

All kitchen and bedding supplies are provided. There is a TV, unlimited internet access and a cleaning service (upon request).

The street is quiet and leafy. In immediate vicinity is the Schlachtensee, a lake suited to swim in, walk or run around or just sit and relax at the waterside. A two minutes walk takes you to a colourful farmer market (Tuesdays and Fridays), shops, cafés and medical practices (if ever you are in need for one).

The neighbourhood is perfectly linked to public transport. The S-Bahn (urban train) takes you in about 20 Minutes to Kurfürstendamm or in approximately 30 Minutes to Potsdamer Platz.

The apartment is made for a single person or a couple – not for shares.

About Me
After traveling and staying abroad for research projects we have settled in Berlin. We have experienced the challenges of getting started quickly in new environments so we offer with our apartment at the same time a quiet place to live and study and an easy access to this vibrant city.

This apartment is ideal for 1 or 2 people looking for a bright, quiet place to stay in the beautiful southwest part of Berlin. The neighborhood is residential and relaxed but well connected to the city center via the S-Bahn (S1 to Dahlem, Steglitz, Mitte, or S7 from Nikolassee to Charlottenburg and Hauptbahnhof). Wannsee and Potsdam are also very easy to reach. Several supermarkets (Rewe, Aldi, Basic), a complete array of small shops as well as some cafés and restaurants are just a 3-minute walk away. The apartment is fully equipped, including a modern kitchen and bathroom, reliable internet connection, TV with many German and some international channels, radio, and a large desk. I'm writing this review in the middle of the coronavirus crisis and could not have hoped for a better place to spend several weeks of lockdown! Excellent Volker Schroder 4/5/2020 2:32:00 AM
Simply put, this apartment is a gem, both for its location and its amenities. The space is airy and brimming with natural light, making it ideal for long days of reading and writing. The landlords have put much thought into interior updates that don’t intrude upon the charm of this historical building, and have outfitted the kitchen well for people who like cooking and entertaining. You’ll find all the trimmings for your meals in the areas around the nearby Schlachtensee and Mexikoplatz S-Bahn stations.

I have stayed here on more than one occasion for short-term summer research trips, and the location is superb, especially if you’re doing research at FU or any of the archives in the southwestern part of the city. Even if you’re based elsewhere, you can get to the center of town in less than half an hour with the S1 from Schlachtensee (5-minute walk) or the S7 from Nikolassee (20-minute walk). Speaking of these lakes and their leafy surroundings, this region of Berlin is all that you could hope for if you’re into swimming, walking, hiking, or cycling.

This is my fourth semester as a visiting at the HU and I never got a better location. The house is calm, warm and cozy, the neighbors almost imperceptible, the landlords extremely kind and totally non-intrusive. Every kind of shop is within a 5-minutes walk; S1 or S1+S7 will allow you to reach the Friedrichstrasse station (and thus any HU settlement) in 31 minutes; the FU and the MPI settlements in Dahlem can be joined by S1 in just 10 minutes. A wonderful green light enters the windows in early spring. This year the nearby lake easily allowed long swimming sessions from May 20. I simply could not have had better.
