IDEALLY LOCATED FOR A SABBATICAL STAY IN LUND

I had a sabbatical leave during January - May 2018 in LTH, Lund, department of Computer Science. I found this house via Sabbatical Homes and contacted the owner in July. We exchanged a few e-mails, had a long skype call and in August 2017 we set-up a one day visit to the house. Based on these preparations, I accepted the rent and I don't regret it for one bit. In my experience (I write this review while I am halfway into my stay), this house is ideal for a sabbatical stay at LTH. Here is why ... TRANSPORTATION. There is a bus connection 7 minutes walking from the property; the bus goes every half hour (every twenty minutes during peek hours) and has proven to be a very reliable means for transportation. If you want to go to Malmö City Center, there is another bus even closer and this ones goes every 10 minutes. For longer travels I used the train and all of these served me well. The few times I had a car, access to highways etc. proved to be very easy. SPACIOUS. This house easily accommodates 3-4 persons (one couple plus two children). It has two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs, and downstairs comes with a large living room, a cosy office room (where I spent many hours !), and a small kitchen. The kitchen is rather basic but has all that is needed (an oven, dishwasher, freezer, fridge, ...). In the basement, there is also a laundry room. The garden is quite lovely; with a balcony and a small green house. While I am writing this review it is covered with 5 cm of snow, although I am told that this amount of snow is exceptional in this part of Sweden :) HELPFUL. The host was really easy-going and helpful in setting up everything that comes with a big move. All the questions I had were answered promptly and he went out of his way to accommodate me with some of the peculiar things that need to happen when moving to Sweden. (Swedish ID anyone ?) NEIGHBOURHOOD. The house is situated in a quiet neighbourhood, with friendly neighbours, a playing ground around the corner, a school just across the street. One kilometer from here there is a small lake with a walking path around it which I use fro my weekly jogging tour ! There is a supermarket nearby (right besides the bus stop to Lund) which provided all daily needs. For larger shopping I took the bus to the city centre. Note that there are several shopping malls nearby as well but I never used them so far. SIGH-SEEING. I took the opportunity to do some sightseeing of the region (Skane) as well. Copenhagen is an easy target but that is in Denmark obviously. Once you have access to a car (I rented one on occasions) you can visit several beautiful nature parks and beaches nearby; I can't wait until spring arrives. So I definitely recommend this house to anyone interested.
