Restaurants, nightlife & beach a few minutes walk in one direction, city center a half hour walk in the other. 3 min. walk to public transit. Chef's kitchen, Google home in all rooms, Apple TV in most. Free movies & beach stuff. 2 bikes. 2 proper bedrooms, + 2 living rooms, 3 baths, very large outdoor balcony with table that seats 10, W/D, fireplace, AC, Treadmill in basement by laundry. Lots of storage indoor and out.

This is not a cookie-cutter construction - It's a lovingly restored full house built in eighteen sixty-five. Please see link for best photos. It shows the whole house minus the basement, laundry (LG large capacity front loading washer and dryer), attic and a few closets. Will add those details shortly. It also shows the beautiful neighborhood - across the street from historic Dorchester Heights park, with a gorgeous view of the ocean and city. Beach is a 2 minute walk down the hill.

Small-dog friendly, ( 30 pounds). Dog flap in basement door to the yard so dog can go out at will during the day. The yard is safely fenced in.

A gardener will tend to the window boxes seasonally.

This is a much loved 1865 home. The owners personally designed the renovations and spent many hours doing much of the work themselves. Property manager is next door, and service will be scheduled for regular maintenance of the HVAC, solar panels and fireplace, paid for by owners. Landlords commit to being highly available and as helpful as possible to assist if any problems arise, as they want to preserve their property just as much as you want to live in a beautiful home!

About Me
Laura and Steve are in their mid to late 50’s, with grown children who have lives of their own now. Laura is a PhD in Cognitive Psychology doing UX research at a financial services institution for the past 20 years. (CV is in link below). Steve is semi-retired, a 32 year IT director of the Boston Herald until it's purchase in 2018. He is also an artist and amateur chef who would like to engage in both practices more frequently. Steve was born in France, and we have traveled there several times in our 12 year marriage - including a pilgrimage to the town of his birth: Bussac-Foret. Until 2018, we have been avid cyclists. Probably our favorite tour being the Camino del Norte (600 miles across Spain, through the Pyrenees) in 2015. See Laura's CV for the list of tours. Covid has moved Laura's heart to find more fulfilling work in the realm of teaching, and hopefully helping rid the internet of misinformation with a non-profit. We are moving towards spending considerable time at our family farm of rescue horses in Maine in order to pursue our passions with a higher degree of financial freedom. So we are desiring a lessee for our beautiful Boston home while we try living and Maine to decide what our future should be. It's our own sabbatical of sorts. Below is the inactive AirBNB listing of our whole house (minus the basement, laundry, attic and a few closets that short terms guests wouldn’t have access to.) In fact, we have never rented our whole house before, only the 2 bedrooms, individually, after our kids grew up. But we prepared the listing a few years ago just in case we ever went that direction. Being big travelers ourselves, we have experienced pure joy sharing wine on the balcony with our various travelling guests. Eventually we hope to reproduce something like this at the Maine farm. Most important to Laura's soul is her Yamaha baby grand piano. We can't take it with us, so we require a lessee who plays piano, because a fine piano takes care and attention and needs to be used. It has a damp-chaser system, and will be visited by our tuner every 6 months (photo in the link below.) If you are not a musician, please understand that we aren't willing to let the piano go unused. We will keep it perfectly maintained during a renter's stay, and be very available to our “special guests.”
