This historical 1924 home -- a copy of the Cotswold house of the surgeon general of London -- was reproduced here by the first woman graduate in architecture from MIT. It features large windows that flood the house with natural light and provide views of the private garden, high ceilings, and original architecture details. The mature trees of the private garden -- also a reproduction -- provide summer shade. You can check out the full set of photos of the house on our website: http://physics.bu.edu/~sulak/Carlton/Desktop.html The Cottage Farm National Historic District offers leafy suburban streets but also easy access to downtown Boston and nearby suburbs via 3 branches of the MBTA public transport, Storrow and Memorial Drives, the Mass Pike, and many bike trails. Restaurants and shops, and are only a block away as are 3 parks and Hall's Pond Nature Preserve. Walk 10 min to Longwood Medical Area, 5 minutes to Boston University, and 20 minutes to Northeastern and MIT, or bike 15 min. to Harvard. You enter the first floor of this, our family home, into a large foyer surrounded by living and dining rooms (both with fireplaces), and a study/office with access to the patio (for summer dining), and garden, Off the dining room is an enclosed porch for summer meals should it shower. The kitchen area, which is air conditioned. includes a butler's pantry, breakfast room, and mud room. A half bath completes the ground floor. One bedroom has a queen bed, one a double bed, and one has two twin beds. Two bedrooms and the study/office overlook the private garden with patio and fountain. All have AC and ceiling fans and have been freshly repainted or papered.
