Located in a converted carriage house, this charming duplex apartment is fully furnished and situated in a lovely, quiet New England neighborhood.

Conveniently located less than 5 miles to Boston’s financial and shopping areas, it is also a short walk to Coolidge Corner, the newly renovated elementary school (K-8), the Longwood Medical area, a wide variety of shops, coffee shops and restaurants, parks and public transportation. Also convenient to area academic institutions, Cambridge, the Western Suburbs and the highways.

Lay-out: The first floor contains an open floor plan with a kitchen-dining area, a living room and a half bath. It has antique maple floors and the kitchen is fully equipped.

Upstairs there are two bedrooms, each with one bed, and a full bath with tub and shower (blankets, linens and towels are provided).

Rental Terms: The rent is $3,300/mth and includes cable, water and wireless internet. Gas and electric are paid by the tenant, and parking for one car is available for $150/month.

The side unit on of the Carriage House on Coolidge was perfect for what I needed (which was a summer place mainly for just me... but it can very comfortably work for two people) ... and Carolyn was second to none in terms of not only being responsive but also just being a great person to get to know.

You enter around the side of the house - at what is the first floor level of the main house. There is small sitting area and a great kitchen that is stocked with nice plates/bowls/etc, very nice appliances, and every little thing you might need but only expect to have at your own house. The laundry is right there off the kitchen. The two bedrooms are downstairs along with the bathroom. The rooms are on the small side, but were plenty big for me.

The neighborhood is safe and a fun place to be - lots of people out walking in the evenings... for exercise, to restaurants, to get ice cream, to go to the movies, or to get to the Green Line of the T. It felt lively, but not loud. It was definitely a residential neighborhood that was a bit quieter than places that were just a 1/2 mile away in slightly more urban settings.

I was commuting into Cambridge by bike and found the 20 ish minute ride to be a nice ride - plenty safe as long as you are used to urban riding... and interesting.

To wrap back to where I started, Carolyn is a great person to rent from. She clearly takes care of the property well and will go out of her way to make sure you have everything you need.

I've just moved out of the Carriage House apt, and I already miss it! I rented for the academic year, and it had all I needed to have the most productive sabbatical ever. The apartments is very comfortable and well-maintained. Everything I wanted/needed was within walking distance including a great indie movie theatre. The bus and T stops were very close. I like to cook, so the well-equipped kitchen was a closer for me. I felt very safe being there (woman alone). The landlord was friendly and considerate. I thought I might regret not being in Cambridge since I was working @ Harvard, but I got much more value and better quality of life. Totally happy with my choice! I lived in the back apartment unit of the Carriage House for 12-months while attending graduate school in Cambridge. The apartment had everything I could have needed and much more. The home is quiet, comfortably furnished, well-heated and cooled, and felt very safe for a young woman living on my own. I have yet to hear of any other space that offers the amenities of this for such a price, including ample space, an option for parking, washer/dryer, private porch area... and more! The street, while offering the aesthetic of a residential neighborhood, also has the convenience of lively Coolidge corner, the MBTA and bus short walks away, and easy entrance to I-90. Carolyn is incredibly personable, thoughtful, and flexible with logistics, and treated me much like family during my stay. My husband, our young daughter and I lived in the carriage house for a summer. It was a great experience. The home is very well cared for and had all the amenities we could want. Our favorite part was the deck right outside the front door that was a great place to eat, relax and play. Carolyn was very available for any questions or needs and immediately fixed any problems that came up. The neighborhood is fantastic. I lived in this unit for the academic year, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience! The location was perfect-- very safe with easy access to bus, Green Line, and Hubway. It is also located near Coolidge Corner with lots of shops, restaurants, Trader Joe's, etc. The unit was fully furnished including all dishware, and it was very clean and cozy.
