Summer in my bright, peaceful one-bedroom Brooklyn apartment with huge deck

My lovely art and antique-filled Kensington Brooklyn apartment is the entire second floor of a two-story brick row house. It’s a quiet retreat in this pleasant neighborhood, reminiscent of an English village.

Neighborhood walking travel times:
5 minute walk to F/G trains or 67/69 buses by the big Foodtown supermarket at Church Avenue/McDonald Avenue bus and Subway stop.

10 minute walk to Fort Hamilton Parkway for Steeplechase Coffee Shop, Italian home-made take out at Brancaccio’s, Thai and Middle Eastern restaurants.
New shops and restaurants popping up nearby on Coney Island Avenue.

Train/Bus travel times:
10 minutes by train or bus to Park Slope – boutique shopping, specialty food stores, coffee shops and restaurants.
20 minutes to Jay Street Metro Tech, downtown Brooklyn, A/C and R trains.
30 minutes to Williamsburg on the G train and L train transfer.
45 minutes to mid-town Manhattan on the F train or by express bus on Caton Avenue (10 minute walk).

I am an art professor at a local college. In the summer of 2019 I have printmaking residencies in Florence School of the Arts and Venice, Italy, at Scuola Internazionale di Grafica.
In summers past, sub-letters have been writers, theatre professionals, business people, professors, and lawyers.

They loved my home because it is “cozy,” “quiet,” “great deck for sunbathing,” “lots of books!” “The great big work table” “full kitchen.”

About Me
As chair of the Art Department of St. Joseph's College, Brooklyn campus, I teach both studio and art history classes. My art practice has evolved from the emphasis on painting up to and ncluding the MFA program at Pratt Institute, to photography and mixed media. For the last 7 years my primary focus has been in printmaking, with summers spent in residencies at Scuola Internazionale di Grafica in Venice, Italy. My upcoming sabbatical will be spent preparing for a major exhibit at the SG gallery there. I enjoy volunteering at the North Brooklyn Boat Club, and paddling a canoe on The Newtown Creek in Brooklyn.
