2 BR Cambridge Apartment Near Harvard

A large, lovely 2BR apartment on a quiet residential street near Harvard in the Avon Hill neighborhood. There are hardwood floors, high ceilings, lots of plants and natural light, a large living room with a working fireplace, two large bedrooms, one bath with a tub, an enclosed sun-porch, a small but nicely equipped kitchen, and a shared laundry and bicycle storage in the basement. We have a 3-yr-old daughter, so the apartment is set up for a small family, ideally a couple with a young child, or 2 children who are happy sharing a room (there's a crib plus a couch/day-bed in the 2nd BR; windows and cabinets are all childproofed). The main BR has a queen bed. The living room has a large couch and two chairs. There's AC units in both BRs, wireless Internet, stereo, guitar and banjo, and a pass for on-street parking. We're on the top floor of a three-story building. It's a quiet, calm, breezy, leafy enclave, off the main streets and directly behind the historic Cooper-Frost-Austin House (1681), the oldest house in Cambridge.

We're a 2-min walk to the Radcliffe Yard, 10-min to Harvard Law School and the Museum of Natural History, about 15-min to Harvard Yard and to Cambridge Common. Restaurants, grocery stores, parks and playgrounds, community garden, swimming pools are all within easy walking distance, and the Red Line is right down the street at Porter Sq. We're also near the Minuteman Bikeway and access to Rtes.2 and 128, and I-93. Walden Pond is about a 20-min drive away.

About Me
I was born and raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan (the original home of Gibson guitars), and received a B.A. in history from the University of Michigan and an M.F.A. in nonfiction writing from Columbia University. I’m a regular contributor to The New York Times’ travel section and other publications, including Men’s Journal, Saveur, The Financial Times, GQ, The Boston Globe, and The Oxford American. Before Cambridge, I lived in New York, London, Dublin, and Dakar. For two years I was foreign correspondent for Japan’s largest daily newspaper, The Yomiuri Shimbun. I currently teach journalism at Boston College.
