Garden-level studio in historic home virtully on Harvard campus
This garden-level studio has an unbeatable Harvard location: tucked away at the end of one of the greenest, most private and exclusive cul-de-sacs in Cambridge, and yet virtually in the center of the main Harvard campus with many departments, museums, and cafés as immediate neighbors.
The house is an 1839 Greek Revival – the last remaining private home on the original Professor’s Row -- with large gardens on all sides. The apartment has two separate entrances, and the main room has two full size windows overlooking a private garden. It is only ~300 sqft with an entrance hallway, a bathroom with shower stall (no tub), and a galley kitchen with eat-in nook. No dishwasher and no windows in kitchen or bathroom, but it went through a complete architect-designed renovation in 2013, has several built-in closets and bookshelves, new recessed lighting, heated floors throughout, naturally cool air in the summer, certified complete lead-paint elimination, free washer/dryer in building and was painted using low-VOC products. It is cozy for one person but too small for two (only rented to one person). Flat-screen TV ready for cable installation (not included). Extensive sound-insulation blocks voices, but some walking can be heard. Previous tenants did not found this to be an issue but could be problem for the sound sensitive. The yard has over 70 specimen trees and many blueberry bushes and chickens.
We look for a pleasant and non-smoking occupant (no smoking even in yard) with no pets. The rent is $1,975/month for a yearly lease, fully furnished (including fully equipped kitchen) and inclusive of all bills (utilities and internet). Shorter term leases may be considered but the rent may then be adjusted.
