Charming 3 bedroom house with courtyard garden 1km. from University of Melbourne and 3km. from city centre

Built in the 1870’s, our house has been substantially modernised and extended. The ground floor has a large living room with an adjacent study and a bedroom with built in robes and drawers. At the rear of the house, looking onto the paved garden courtyard, is a fully equipped kitchen and a new bathroom with shower over bath, built in cupboards and full-length mirror. Upstairs is fully carpeted with a wide front bedroom overlooking the street and a rear bedroom with an inbuilt desk and floor to ceiling windows looking down on the courtyard and a rear lane. Both upstairs and down have reverse cycle (heating and cooling) air conditioning. There’s also a garden shed and a laundry with a front-loading washing machine and a clothes dryer. For the full picture, check out our photos.

Served by excellent public transport and an extensive network of bike paths, our home provides quick and convenient access to Melbourne’s natural and cultural attractions. On the northern side of the city, we are in easy walking or public transport distance from the University of Melbourne, and less than 3km. from RMIT University, the State Public Library and the World Heritage listed Exhibition Building and its gardens. We also have an extensive range of local shops, restaurants and bars and a public gymnasium, library and swimming pool. Nearby too, is the Capital City Bike Trail that weaves its way around the creeks and rivers that surround the city. A little further on, along the Yarra River on the south side of the city, are the Melbourne Botanical Gardens and the city’s arts precinct with Federation Square, the National Gallery of Victoria, the Australian Centre for the Moving Image and the Concert and Recital Centres. Our home is also within easy car or public transport distance from the beaches of Port Phillip Bay. For a day trip, consider the wineries and boutique farms of the Yarra Valley or the Mornington Peninsula and for a long day trip or overnight stay, there’s the magnificent beaches and surrounding forest of the Great Ocean Road.

About Me
Semi-retired, from time to time I still write and photograph stills for the video production company of which I was co-founder. While most of my travel has been in South East Asia - predominantly Thailand, Cambodia and Laos - after a long absence, I spent six weeks in the UK, France and Italy in 2015. Though I'd certainly like to visit countries and regions as yet unseen, my 2017 travel will again be in Europe.
