This apartment is in the Hyde Park neighborhood, between the University of Chicago (12 minutes on foot) and the more commercial 53rd street area, 1 block from the Metra and CTA buses to downtown. It's less than 5 minutes walk from the Whole Foods as well as a Starbucks/Chipotle/etc. and not much farther to Target. It's also less than 10 minutes walk to the Point (park on the lake). The apartment is on the third floor of a three-floor block of flats which has a small gym in the basement and plenty of bicycle storage. It's a well-furnished 2 bedroom / 1 bathroom apartment with hardwood floors and a living room and dining area adjacent to the kitchen. It has a patio with café table and chairs, separate back deck area with grill, and two entrances/exits. It also has central air and forced air heat and the ceiling was insulated about years ago. The place comes furnished or unfurnished to suit the desire of the renter. It currently has mostly black leather furniture and numerous bookshelves with and fairly large collection of biblical studies, theology, and classical Greek/Latin works. We have created plenty of empty space on the shelves to accommodate renters. In the living room, there is a fully sized digital piano and plenty of seating space for small gatherings. It has a modern kitchen with dishwasher. The unit has a washer and dryer as well. In the main bedroom, there is a new queen sized mattress and bedding and a new dresser. The closets have additional storage. The second bedroom is currently oriented as a study with a couch (which pulls out into a queen), reading chair, and desk. We have a wireless laser printer and stereo (with turntable) in there as well. We can take out some of the furniture and put in a bed if that is desired. The neighbors are quiet and the area is easy to navigate. And if you understand the University of Chicago and Hyde Park, this apartment fits in to that ethos perfectly. *Smoking is allowed only on the balconies.
