About Me
My husband and I are architect / artists who restored a 17th century farmhouse / barn in the Serra de Sintra a World Heritage site off the Lisbon coast. We run self-catering holidays and art workshops from our home. The area was made famous by the poet Lord Byron who visited and remarked on the beauty of the palaces, castles, romantic gardens and 'quintas'. It is considered a place of outstanding charm and consists of a wooded mountain range perched on the Atlantic coast 1 hour from Lisbon and equidistant from Sintra Vila the old summer residence of the Portuguese kings and Cascais a lively resort town at the mouth of the Tagus River.

We had wanderful two months in this charming cottage in a beautiful part of Portugal. If you want to relax, country side, beautiful views, walks in the rolling hills, beach, hustle and bustle of towns, history or you like painting?.. you have it all within easy reach. The owners Mary (artist) and Allen (Architect) are very friendly and made us feel very much at home. The kitchen is very well equipped which helped a lot, and the bed rooms are very spacious and beds very comfortable. The cottage was well stocked for immediate needs as we arrived which made our arrival comfortable. They gave us information about places to visit, restaurants etc..I participated in the weekly art classes given by Mary which I enjoyed tremendously and as a beginner I learned a lot. Mary was very relaxed and encouraging and I feel more confident now..It was home away from home. Certainly the place deserves repeat visits. Enjoyed living in such a nice place full of art with such nice people... Excellent Vi 6/13/2012 4:59:00 AM
It was wonderful to stay in the Cottage in the Summer of 2011. We spent some quiet, relaxing, and, at the same time, productive days there. Excellent mardm926 1/18/2012 3:15:00 PM
