Carriageworks Market and Art Centre 5 minutes walk and numerous art galleries nearby. The edgy suburb of Newtown is 10 minutes walk with restaurants, cinema and a variety of boutique shops. Broadway Shopping Complex is 5 minutes by car. There is a delightful small park across the road from the unit, a large park 10 minutes away with open air swimming pool and Sydney University has a large park area around the corner from the uni. Sydney University also has a Sport and Fitness Centre with pool, gym, tennis and squash courts and fitness and yoga classes five minutes from unit. Beaches half an hour away by train and bus. Originally trained as a nurse then worked in Family Planning. Later completed a Bachelor of Communication at University of Technology, Sydney (UTS), then worked in TAFE NSW for 20 years and also completed a Graduate Diploma in Adult Community Education,UTS and then a Masters in Public Health at the University of Wollongong. I have travelled widely in Europe, Asia, the Pacific and the USA. I am concerned about social justice and the environment and have a keen interest in the arts.

This is a beautiful apartment. It's extremely comfortable, quiet and very well equipped with a shady area to sit outside. I also loved the location. There are bars and cafes close by and a lovely walk through the university campus to vibrant Newtown. Redfern station is just up the road. Chris was very friendly and helpful. If you are looking for somewhere to stay in Sydney that is convenient, affordable, well maintained, quiet, and with a great landlord - this is your place. Chris is a fantastic renter - she was always quick to respond if we needed anything at all, and made sure to keep in touch should she receive news about the complex or neighborhood. Despite there being quite a bit of foot traffic from Sydney University during the week, it was always a very quiet area, and I often wondered if we even had neighbors at all because there was never any noise from within the building.

By far the greatest benefit is the location. Only 5 minutes down the road is the Redfern train station, which can connect you to any train line in the city, out to the beach, or to the mountains. They’re currently expanding to accommodate even more travellers in and out of the area. If you’re looking to get into the CBD it’s incredibly easy by train, but is easily walkable if you’re feeling up to it. There are a handful of great cafes on the very same street as the apartment, but you’re also only a 10 minute walk from Redfern, Newtown, and Chippendale, all with even more options for amazing restaurants and shopping. Just across the street there is a gorgeous park, and just 2 blocks away is one of the best farmers markets in Sydney at Carriageworks (along with a great art gallery).

I truly felt like this apartment was the best deal based on price for location/quality, especially after having talked with many other visitors to Sydney who were paying nearly the same price for shared rooms much further out in the suburbs. Staying here made acclimating to our new Sydney life that much easier, and felt like a home away from home. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

I stayed at this unit for three months with my partner and it was a wonderful experience. Chris was a fantastic host–extremely hospitable and very responsive.

The location of the unit is fantastic – easy access to public transportation and the train station, and very walkable neighbourhood with great cafes, and the university sports centre nearby if you need an easy gym membership. Super close to Carriageworks and their delightful Saturday Farmer's Market. Easy stroll over to Newtown, Alexandria, or Chippendale and an array of great restaurants and other activities.

The unit itself is clean, and well-appointed, with a cosy bedroom, comfortable bed, and nice large shower. The place has a great kitchen, a sizeable pantry, great cook range, and a solid set of pots/pans/ kitchenware you would likely need. The unit itself is equipped with many house basics – washer and dryer, vacuum, iron - so we didn't need to seek out any extra amenities like that, making it really easy to just move in with our basics!
