Fantastic sabbatical home offered in East Lansing!

Our home is located in a lovely neighborhood known for its tree-lined streets. The street is a favorite for walkers and bicyclists. It is a short walk from the house to the northeast corner of the Michigan State University campus. Restaurants and shopping are also within walking distance, including a new Whole Foods. But even though the home is located close to all the hubbub, it feels very private and secluded.

Built in 1940, the two-story brick home features three bedrooms, two full baths, and a fully updated kitchen with all new appliances. The master bedroom and master bath are located on the second floor of the house. The master bedroom is vaulted and has a ceiling fan along with two skylights, one of which can be opened and closed remotely. There is also a walkout second-story deck off the master bedroom - a lovely place for relaxing. The master bath features twin sinks, a walk-in shower with a rainwater showerhead, and a whirlpool tub. An extra special touch in the master bath is the sun lamp over the whirlpool and the heated floors – particularly wonderful on a cold winter’s morn.

On the home’s main level, the renovated kitchen has beautiful granite countertops. There’s plenty of counterspace and more than enough space in the roomy cupboards. There is a new gas range, side-by-side refrigerator/freezer, and dishwasher. The adjoining dining room is open to the kitchen, sun room, and living room. The living room features a fireplace and plenty of light. A full bathroom is located between the two main floor bedrooms (one of which is currently being used as an office). Our favorite room on the main level is the sun room which is surrounded by floor to ceiling windows on three sides. The sun room has heated floors, and the sliding glass doors on one side lead to the sunny kitchen garden while on the other side lead to a small deck with a gas grill.

The home’s downstairs is finished on one side, and currently has a sitting area along with a day bed set up in it. Laundry, heating, and storage are on the other side.

The yard is absolutely the best feature of this home, with mature trees and garden that supply blooms throughout the growing seasons. The fenced back yard is very private and includes a heated lap pool.

We’re an hour away from the closest Lake Michigan beach area, and about three hours away from Traverse City. We enjoy hiking, cross-county skiing, and kayaking, and this area affords many opportunities for these activities.
