Perfect writing retreat! Unique converted 1881 Methodist Chapel on the beach in Cornwall, UK.

This 1881 converted chapel sits on the beach in East Portholland, a hamlet of about 29 people on the South coast of Cornwall, UK. East Portholland is 6 miles from the closest villages with pubs and groceries (Tregony, Portloe, Veryan), and 12 miles from the closest city (Truro) and town (St. Austell).
The Chapel is perfectly suited for those with a wild/adventurous heart and a pioneering spirit. Its conversion is not recent and its rustic charms are particular. Inside: vistas, wireless internet, washer/dryer, no television, walls and walls of books, tall ceilings, cozy fireplace (originally in the altar room), nooks for writing, reading, meditating, painting, playing piano and cooking. Outside: vistas, beach, coastal footpaths (to the pub, to the castle, or just to more vistas), surfing, harbour walls, swimming, rock pools, English Channel, stream (sleep on one side of the Chapel to the sounds of the stream; on the other to the sounds of the sea), unpredictable West UK/gulf stream weather (from sun to gales and back again in hours), unbelievably unpolluted starscape. FRESH air! Within Cornwall: Tate St. Ives, Minack Theatre, Hall for Cornwall, Eden Project, St. Michael’s Mount, Land’s End, Kneehigh Theatre, National Trust sites and much much more…
I have lived in the Chapel since 1966, through a career of extra-mural teaching for the University of Exeter in Cornwall, then undergraduate and graduate student teaching on the main University campus in Exeter. I have enjoyed the peace and magic of the Chapel for decades. I raised a child blissfully in this safe, rural setting and recommend its charms for young and old alike. I am a writer and cannot emphasize enough the quality of space, air, connectedness and separateness with which this environment enhances my work.
My daughter lives in the Silver Lake area of Los Angeles. Since I’ve retired I am looking to spend a month or two every so often near her in that city by exchanging my home here – I am quite flexible with date possibilities and look forward to hearing from you with your details, questions and ideas!
I am particularly interested in making exchange connections during the winter of 2016, November/December
