Artist's home in Leyton, East London

Available on a Sunday and Monday nights. So perfect for a part time position on Mondays and Tuesdays! Also available full time. Rate below is for full time tenant. If you are looking for a regular place to stay on Sunday and Monday nights please ask for rate.

This unique artist's home in Leyton is ideal for a quiet bolt hole in London. Relaxing and calm and full of love, this house has two bedrooms, one double and one single, a garden and an eclectic, yet simple design. The first bedroom is double, with clothes storage, the second is single, with clothes storage, shelves and a desk.

Built in 1860, this is a traditional, London terrace with a contemporary twist. Downstairs in bay fronted with a through living room, dining room and a small yet equipped kitchen. Upstairs, front double bedroom has two front facing sash windows. The single room overlooks the garden. The bathroom is surprisingly spacious with bath and separate shower. The beautiful downstairs space has a through living room and dining room. It is a tranquil and unique space. There is a large dining table that seats up to six people, and is also a great place to work. In the garden there is a paved seating area and a small lawn surrounded by flower beds. There are an array of photography books, also some art, design and gardening books.

There are two cats, Walter and Momo who are brother and sister and are extremely friendly.

The area:
You can get a great coffee two minutes away at Perky Blenders on Leyton High Road, or 5 minutes to Curved Brick. Also a beautiful gift shop, General Provisions at Host is next door (open weekends). A short walk is Deeneys (for your haggis toasty needs) and the bars and restaurants of Francis Road. Yardarm sells delicious breads, wines, cheeses, sundries and eggs, amongst other things. You can also enjoy coffee, wine, cheese and meat platters there. Marmelo Kitchen is also on Francis Road and serves amazing food. Check their website for opening hours. Further towards Leyton there are lots of shops, cafes and restaurants. On Saturdays there is a great little food market in Coronation Gardens, selling fantastic coffee, paneer wraps, falafel, proper northern chips (!), to name but a few of the selection. Sundays there is a farmers market on Walthamstow High Street. A 20 minute walk gets you to Walthamstow Village, for a different side of London. Walthamstow Central has a cinema and Sunday Farmers Market. You can explore more to find the amazing, God's Own Junkyard and it's surrounding Gin and Craft Beer establishments. Hackney Marshes is a lovely walk away, then on to the canal, Clapton Market and even Victoria Park for a decent walk. For pubs there a many to choose from. The extravagantly decorated William IV is a short walk away. The Leyton Technical is a good spot or The Castle in Walthamstow is a firm favourite. Epping Forest is close at hand, as is Hollow Pond (20 min walk) where you can hire rowing boats or walk around the parkland.

The house is very close to Leyton Midland Road overland station which has trains every 15 minutes to Blackhorse Road (6 mins) and beyond. You can get to Kings cross in less than 25 minutes door to door via the overland and Victoria Line from Blackhorse Road. Leyton underground station is a 15 minute walk or short bus ride, where you can access the Central Line for another way to quickly access Central London. Also Walthamstow Central underground is a short bus ride North from the house. This is another option for getting he Victoria Line, or overland trains.

I am a Photographer, Artist, Visiting Lecturer and Workshop Leader. My home in Leyton, East London is for rent while I am away here and there. It is a 30 min journey to Central London, and close to East London Universities.
