Elegant Townhouse in Canterbury, England

This is a beautiful 4 bedroom Regency townhouse (1823) in one of the prettiest residential roads in Canterbury, the medieval city made famous as in the Canterbury Tales. The house is recently renovated, and has 2 large living rooms (on the ground and first floors), as well as bedrooms on the third floor. Both living rooms have working fireplaces. The larger sitting room has two French windows that open onto a balcony. There is also a great basement room with a large Smart TV. One of the bedrooms can be used as an office (on the first floor). There is a patio and garden in the back which is wonderfully quiet - only birdsong. There is one main bathroom with bath and shower and another bathroom with a shower on the top floor.

We are looking for tenants for roughly a 10-12 month period (to commence about mid-August 2017 until early to mid-August 2018), though we may be flexible in terms of exact duration and timing of start/finish dates. We are on sabbatical for about a year in the USA. This townhouse would suit a family, or a couple who wants lots of space. It is fully furnished, so you would need to bring nothing with you, except a suitcase. No pets, however, and non-smokers please.

Canterbury is perfectly situated for those who wish to spend time in London and Paris. London is only a 55 minute train from St. Pancras station in London and Paris (Gare du Nord) is only a 2 hour Eurostar journey (when you go to Ashford station - a mere 20 minute drive from our house). Canterbury is also surrounded by beautiful villages in Kent, which is the county known as the 'garden of England'.

The house is also a 20 minute walk to the university (University of Kent) via a beautiful pathway with striking views of the cathedral. We are also a 15-20 walk to Canterbury West station (for the fast train to London), and 20 minute walk to the high street, with a huge variety of stores and restaurants.

This price is a huge discount for academics only, and this would be much less than what we will have to pay in rent in the US next year - it has been appraised at a minimum of 2k by commercial estate agents.

About Me
I'm an American professor of sociology who has lived and worked at the University of Kent (in Canterbury, England) since 1991. My husband is a film professor at the same university, and we have two sons, aged 15 and 18 (though the elder son is now at university). We (my husband and our younger son, and I) are looking for a 2 bedroom flat in the downtown area of New York. We are both on sabbatical this coming academic year and thus need a place for 9-10 months, ideally, starting some time in August 2017.
