Charming cottage in North Carolina mountains

This newly renovated mountain cabin on a three-quarter acre lot is only 1 mile from downtown Highlands, peaceful yet convenient! Come enjoy the cool breezes of this popular resort— at an elevation of over 4000 feet, with an average high temperature in July of 78 degrees. It’s a welcome refuge from the flatland summer heat and humidity. This wonderful cabin in the secluded Mirror Lake area is also perfect for year-round use, with air conditioning and gas heat.
It features a large great room with a French door opening onto a serene deck surrounded by rhododendrons. In front of the stone fireplace is a cozy sitting area, which is underneath the gem of a loft for sleeping, reading, or working. A custom modern kitchen is handsomely equipped for serious cooks as well as those who just want easy entertaining. The kitchen includes granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances, and a convection range. You can choose to eat in the dining area or on the convenient deck with gas grill.
There are two bedrooms with queen size beds, a full bathroom with a claw foot tub and shower, and a half bath on the main floor. The loft above the great room has a day bed suitable for sitting or sleeping and a desk. Guests can park off the street on the driveway, as well as on the street.
Additional amenities include WiFi, flat screen TV with cable service, and a laundry room with washer and dryer.

About Me
I'm a retired book editor who specialized in history and political science, primarily at Houghton Mifflin. My wife, a writer, and I travel every year to Europe, usually to France and then on to other countries. We love to stay in apartments and houses in non-tourist neighborhoods and live like locals. We also own a charming cottage in the mountain town of Highlands, NC that we rent and prefer long-term renters.
