Spacious and light top floor flat in Clerkenwell 2-BR

This 2BR flat is the ideal home for someone spending a year at one of London's universities. Located on the top (4th) floor, this flat is spacious (83 sqm), stylish, well laid out, and full of light. Part of a historically protected Edwardian housing estate (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bourne_Estate), it was completely refurbished and updated both inside and outside last year, with new wooden floors throughout, new double-glazed windows, a new kitchen, bathroom and furniture. For visiting academics, the best feature is perhaps the sunny office with massive built-in desk.

While the flat is very comfortable, the location is truly exceptional. On the border of Bloomsbury and Clerkenwell, LSE, UCL, SOAS, City University, and the British Library are all nearby, as are two Tube stops (Chancery Lane, Farringdon), regional trains (Farringdon), and more shops, pubs, and restaurants than you can possibly hope to explore.

The Borne Estate is a residential pocket tucked away from from the nearby main roads, creating a little oasis of calm in the middle of central London. The building is a real community and the neighbours are very friendly.

This flat is ideal for a single person or a couple looking for a central location. It would not be appropriate for someone with mobility challenges, since it's on the 4th floor and there is no elevator. We use this flat as our weekday pied-a-tierre, but won't be needing it while I'm on sabbatical. If you like plants, you're welcome to babysit ours. Otherwise, we're happy to take them out. We've just invested a lot of effort in making it nice, so are hoping to rent it to a responsible visitor who will enjoy it as much as we have.
