A very comfortable two bedroom sandstone house in Balmain close to the city and Sydney University

Our home is a lovely spacious Georgian sandstone house overlooking Sydney Harbour in Balmain. It's 10 - 20 minutes by direct ferry to Circular Quay and 25 minutes by bus to Sydney University and UTS.

The house is quiet, comfortable and light-filled. Built in the 1850's, it is an artist's and engineer's home with good music, books and art. There are 2 long verandahs overlooking the harbour. The kitchen is contemporary and practical and the living room is large and comfortable. The 2 spacious bedrooms have queen size beds and linen is provided. There is a separate office with a wireless printer. High speed internet and free local and national phone calls are included. The garden is tropical with frangipanis, bromeliads and birds nest ferns and tables for outdoor dining.

Balmain and Rozelle have excellent cafes and restaurants in abundance. There is a big supermarket about 10 minutes walk from our house which is open 7.30 am to 10pm every day. There are also very good weekend markets nearby - an organic farmers market in Orange Grove Markets every Saturday morning and an excellent second hand market at Rozelle Primary School every Saturday and Sunday.

In brief, it is a distinctive well kept historic house within a vibrant community with a strong connection to Sydney's maritime heritage. We love it and we know that guests who have lived at our house have not been disappointed. Please ask us whatever you need to know to make your stay terrific.

There is a one-off cleaning fee of $140 AUD on your final departure. Weekly cleaning by our regular cleaners can also be arranged at your cost if you want that service. Please let us know when you make your enquiry.

Fantastic! The house is beautiful and was a joy to stay in (unusually for Sydney, it even has proper heating), and it really does have a harbour view -- the covered verandah is the perfect place to work or to sit with an evening glass of wine. The location is great -- a single, short-ish (except in rush hour -- avoid!) bus ride to Sydney Uni or CBD; close to shops, cafes, etc.; and really close to the ferry. Sue was very relaxed, considerate and hospitable -- she really wanted to make sure we enjoyed our time there (which we did!). Absolutely top of my list if I ever get to have another sabbatical in Sydney. Excellent Helen 1/10/2016 8:16:00 AM
