Sunny, High-Ceiling, Fully Furnished True 1-BR Corner Apartment Border of Crown Heights and Bed Stuy, Pet Friendly
My partner and I are looking to find long-term subletters for our delightfully large, sunny, true one-bedroom apartment while we relocate temporarily to Berlin.
Our approximately 650sf L-Shaped, corner apartment has a window in every room; the building is pre-war so the kitchen, living room, and bedroom are each separate and distinct parts of the apartment and are all very well-sized for New York. We love this apartment!
The apartment is available October 1, 2020-July 30, 2021 (end date may be negotiable and lease renewal may be possible).
Amenities
We have lived in the apartment for the past five years and have lovingly made some significant investments into the space--a newly installed mid-century modern light fixture floods light into the kitchen day or night; a wall mounted flat screen smart TV with a floating shelf underneath make great use of the multi-purpose living room; a queen size bed with a Casper mattress and a wall-mounted head board with floating shelves and storage drawers underneath; and walls lined with "built-in-adjacent" shelves make use of the high ceilings and provide a lot of storage in the bedroom. The apartment has original hardwood floors throughout except for tile in the kitchen and bathroom.
While we're in Berlin we would leave all of our furniture and household items behind for your use--a full kitchen equipped with basic appliances (coffee maker, toaster oven, microwave, soda stream!, gas stove), Cleaning Supplies (Broom, Mop, Vacuum), Living Room Furniture (L-Shaped Leather Couch, Work Station/Dining Table, folding chairs), Bedroom Storage (Dresser, Antique Trunk, Book Shelves), Three Closets, Bedding if needed (Blankets, Pillows, Quilts, Sheets, etc.).
A new laundry room is being built in the basement of the building and should be available for your use by the time of the sublet.
Location
The apartment is located on Marcy Ave, one block down from the corner of Fulton and Marcy, on the border between Bed Stuy and Crown Heights. It is an incredibly convenient location--3 blocks from the Nostrand A/C train takes you into Manhattan within 15 minutes, many bus lines, and Citi Bike stations. There are also many grocery stores nearby, including the Super Foodtown grocery store one block away. Tons of coffee shops and restaurants on Nostrand, Fulton, and Tompkins all within a 5-10 minute walk.
The apartment is on the second floor which is ideal for the short sets of stairs to climb when carrying groceries home, but better than being on the ground floor for noise and privacy. The bedroom is located in the back of the apartment away from the street and is very quiet at night.
Utilities
Heat and hot water are included and Gas, Electric, and Wi-Fi are not. We would be happy to maintain all of our services and negotiate payment for those separately.
Lastly
We have a great relationship with our Super and our neighbors who have always been helpful if there is any problem, and our Management Company would sign-off on the sublet. We're hoping to find kind, conscientious subletters who will enjoy this space--pets welcome.
ABOUT THIS LISTER
We are a couple in our early 30s, an urban planner and a journalist, who have lived in this apartment for 5 years. One of us received a fellowship to live and work in Berlin for 9 months, so we are relocating temporarily. We are easy going people that care about our neighborhood and our home.
RENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Prospective subletters will have to pass a credit and background check, offer proof of income, and sign a sublet agreement. Move-in will require the first months' rent and a security deposit.
In light of the pandemic, the apartment will be professionally cleaned before move-in.
