Location: Ideal for access to the University of Chicago campus and hospital. 4-minute walk to Ratner Gym, 7-minute walk to the Regenstein Library. UofC shuttle and bus stops (55, 171, 172) stops are a 3-4 minute walk, making for easy transport to all of campus, Trader Joe’s, CTA, MDW airport, and the Metra lines for getting downtown. 7-minute bike ride to the lake at Promontory Point. Lovely restaurants and museums within walking distance.
Apartment: 1,000 sq ft 2nd story apartment with hardwood floors. Perfect for a single or couple to use the smaller bedroom as an office. Large living room, dining nook, and kitchen. An enormous amount of storage with 4 walk-in closets. The apartment is up one flight of stairs and there is no elevator.
Building: The apartment faces into a tranquil garden courtyard. Easy and free street parking. 2 ground floor bike rooms in the building. Back porch/staircase accessible via the kitchen can accommodate smokers (though please not inside the apartment).
Furniture: Tastefully furnished with a mix of mid-century modern, antique, and contemporary pieces. Massive hardwood bookshelves and additional smaller ones provide ample library space. The apartment is owned by a graduate student as her personal home, so there are no move-in fees or corporate rules like the awful Hyde Park property conglomerates.
