Vintage Gem in Beautiful Jamaica Plain

Spacious 2-bedroom apartment in historic two-family home in a quiet, hillside neighborhood steps from the Arnold Arboretum and the Forest Hills T station. The 1150-square foot unit has gleaming hardwood floors, built-in china cabinets, original woodwork, a farmhouse sink, and glass doorknobs from the historic Union Glass Co. in Somerville, MA. Furnishings are artistic and eclectic, with many unique midcentury and craftsman antiques, original artwork, and an extensive library. The large, light-filled master bedroom offers a queen-sized bed and dual dressers; the second bedroom is equipped with a twin bed, desk, and dresser. Laundry on-site. Rent includes electricity, cable TV, and high-speed internet; a vehicle is available for an additional fee.

The apartment is located in a friendly neighborhood that feels like a small town in the city: neighbors visit on front porches, children run from house to house, and parents teach their kids to throw hoops in the cul-de-sac at the end of the block. The street is located on a loop, so there is little through traffic and easy on-street parking. Yet access to downtown or the Longwood Medical Area couldn’t be easier via the Southwest Corridor bike path, the MBTA #39 bus, and the Orange Line all less than a five-minute walk away. Additionally, downtown Jamaica Plain--with its beautiful library, interesting shops, vibrant public spaces, and award-winning restaurants—is just a short jaunt up South Street.

We are looking for responsible, community-minded people who will take good care of our home while we’re away. Our wonderful landlords live upstairs, so you’ll be well taken-care of.

About Me
I'm an artist and academic teaching interdisciplinary media arts at Northeastern University in Boston, MA. I make films, performances, and socially-engaged projects with environmental themes. My partner is also an academic with a background in cultural geography, critical Indigenous studies, and landscape history/theory. We split our time between Boston and rural southwest Wisconsin, where we have an off-the-grid camp that we are slowly developing into a place-based research and ecological restoration project.
