Sangoma: An Adobe Home Between Taos Ski Valley and Taos

Come experience a quiet private sanctuary overlooking open ranch land owned by movie star Julia Roberts. Enjoy sweeping views of a pasture where coyotes, red-tail hawks, bald eagles, and other wildlife can be seen and heard. Living in our adobe Taos home is about becoming one with the big sky and the rhythms of nature. This house is one level and 2300 square feet with many amenities including tasteful art and furnishings, an expansive patio, and colorful gardens. The house has 2 bedrooms, 3 baths, a small living room, small kitchen, large dining room, expansive patio for lounging and dining, and a separate office. Writers, take heart, there are 3 desks in the house with comfortable desk chairs. The house has Wifi, TV, and a music system.

Although the house feels rural, it is located only 7/10 of a mile from the hip gentrified village of Arroyo Seco, which is filled with restaurants, galleries and shops. And the house is located halfway between the Taos Ski Valley (a 15 min drive) with world class skiing and amazing hiking and the town of Taos (a 15 min drive), which is steeped in history, filled with art galleries and restaurants, and is known for its adobe architecture. This is the perfect abode for a couple or one to two individuals who wish to read, reflect, and resonate with nature. Hiking, river-running, biking, skiing, movies, music, museums, art openings, lectures, and dining are all close by. A “sangoma” is a southern African healer, and this house is a special healing place. Come and be transformed.

About Me
My husband, Phillip, and I live in a lovely adobe home in Taos, NM. We are in our 50's and 60's and are known for our clean organized house with its one resident cat, Tamu, which means “sweet” in Swahili. We have worked in international development and for NGOs for most of our lives and I still run a nonprofit. We are now semi-retired and can work from anywhere with good internet access. We rent our home, swap our home, and sometimes look for house-sitters for periods of two weeks to up to several months. We also are keen to swap with people who live near Taos: people who have homes in Aspen/Snowmass, Telluride, and Boulder, etc. In addition, we would like to do swaps of a month or longer with people who have a home in Sea Ranch, CA, and in Vancouver, Canada. And we are ALWAYS open for swaps with people located in Namibia or Botswana. We would desire a car exchange too for Namibia.

Our stay at Sangoma was brilliant! The house is southwest chic and more. It is a wonderful blend of east meets west that creates an air of peacefulness and stirs the creative instincts. Wonderful beamed ceilings, perfect lighting, luxurious bathrooms and hi-tech everything. Best of all are the Tibetan prayer flags that surround the property and the delightful wind chimes. AND, the views are incomparable. You will not want to leave.
