La casa del piano is a perfect house for couples, friends or families to relax and experience life at a slower pace in a traditional Andalusian village. The former 18th century convent is located on a traffic-free pedestrian cobbled street, leading to the village square with its cafés and kiddies playground.

On two levels, the historic home has two spacious living spaces with fire place, one study with library and a well tuned piano, plenty of interesting corners .

Refurbished, in keeping with the rustic style and traditional charm of the original building, it's a very special place for a writing retreat, a family holiday, a friends reunion ?

Oak beams, twisty walls, hand glazed tiles, little nooks and crannies, a choice of terraces and an Andalusian courtyard with beautifully weathered terracotta floors, a 1938 up-right piano - it has bags and bags of character; still there's all mod cons too - large flat screen TV, DVD player, a well appointed kitchen with extra large gas cooker, and a reliable internet connection.

The Andalusian courtyard has a fenced-off splash pool (3m x 4m, you can use from April until the end of October), table, chairs and plenty of exotic plants.

Situated in the Alcornocales Nature Reserve, about 30 miles North of Gibraltar, 16 miles from the Mediterraneans beaches and 45 miles of the Atlantic coasts and Tarifa.

The house offers great views from the roof terrace over the glorious sweep of countryside below the village, over to the Rock of Gibraltar and the African coast line by clear weather.

It's a spacious and stylish family home. The village is crowed by the ruins of a Moorish castle and surrounded by one of the last virgin nature reserve in Andalusia, el parque de los Alcornocales.

Jimena is located on the well known ´bird super highway¨… each years millions of birds travel from Sub-Saharan Africa to nest all over Europe. They funnel across the Strait of Gibraltar, over Jimena and, eventually, on into Europe. Walk directly from the house to view swallows, black storks, white storks, red kites, ospreys, wag-tails, etc…

La casa del Piano is ideally situated to provide easy access to Blue Flag Mediterranean beaches 20 minutes' drive away, excellent restaurants, shops and superb golf courses (Valderrama, Sotogrande, etc) along the coast and 20 min to the Gaucin village in the hills.

Bakers and fish sellers come every day with their van to deliver fresh bread, sweet local goodies, and sea food. Supermarkets, banks are at walking distance from the house.

The wonderful cities of Seville, Cordoba, Jerez, Tarifa, Grenada and Malaga are all less than 3 hours away - and Morocco is a 30-min ferry crossing from Tarifa.

A studio annex for two, with its own lounge, TV, DVD player, free Wifi internet, shower room and kitchenette is available at extra cost.

We provide quality white linens and towels. If you're traveling with littles ones, we maybe help with travel cot, high chair and other baby stuff :)

We extended our stay ... two children and thousands of new places later, twenty beautiful years have passed ! We are now living in the Albayzin quarter of Granada always enjoying traveling and sharing our special places with fellow travellers.

It’s a great flat in a wonderful neighbourhood – Stockbridge – with many restaurants, supermarkets (including Waitrose!) and shops. It is very close to the wonderful Inverleith Park and the Botanical Garden. Several buses connect the area to the city center, which is anyhow at a walking distance. The flat is great, equipped with hypermodern (and very cool!) appliances. Full of light and with a cozy and perfectly functioning fireplace. More important, Christine & Stick are simply wonderful: very easy-going, flexible, always helpful and kind: the exact opposite of some owners…Edinburgh is fairly expensive, but the rent is absolutely honest. La Casa del Piano is a treasure!! The owners have helped us with so many details as we adjusted to moving to a new city and a new country!! We could not have made the move without their help! They were excellent communicators, patient and welcoming, and the perfect hosts! Not only is Jimena a beautiful village with beautiful people...this home with its picturesque terraces and patios, antique details and central location - make it a perfect choice for any length of stay! We lived in this lovely flat for 2.5 years, and it has been an all-around great experience. Comely Bank, where the flat is located in, is certainly one of the best areas to stay in Edinburgh, with lovely Stockbridge and its great selection of restaurants, pubs and coffees right around the corner, but enough away to keep any business at bay. So the neighbourhood is very relaxed. Inverleith Park is just a hundred yards away. For those into running or walking this offers a direct connection to Leith walk. The city center is within walking distance. The flat is fully furbished and in a great state. The interior is well thought through. Particularly handy is the great amount of storage space, which really distinguishes this flat from others we have seen in a comparable size. The living room has a couch that, in case of need, also sleeps to people, which is useful when getting visitors. The landlords are very helpful and easy to cooperate with. There is a community garden which is good to store bikes, dry laundry or just hang out a bit. Overall, we would highly recommend to stay in the flat. La casa del piano is as lovely as the pictures depict. We enjoyed the patio and its pool for outside dining under the lemon tree, the romantic balcony outside the master bedroom and the top balcony with views of the castle and surrounding countryside. The house is on the nicest street in the village, a pedestrian street. The life in the village was a wonderful experience thanks to Christine who at our every request tried to fulfill our needs.
