Lovely cottage one block from UK

This is a stand-alone little house with its own fenced garden, located just one half block from the University of Kentucky. It is a one block walk to the tennis courts on campus as well as the football stadium. The neighborhood is beautiful and there is a grocery as well as other amenities within walking distance. There is a patio in front and a screened-in porch in the back. Very quiet and private with off-street parking. Air, heat, small kitchen with dishwasher, fridge, small convection/microwave oven and there is a small adjacent room with a washer/drier and space for clothing. Appropriate for one or two people.

We had a wonderful time in this Rockridge property. We stayed there from January to May 2012. We were a family of two adults, both on sabbatical leave, and one 16 year old girl, who attended High School in Oakland. The house and location suited us perfectly. It is in easy walking distance from Rockridge BART station and from the local Trader Joe's. It is about 40 minutes on foot or 15 minutes on bike from the Berkeley campus (we bought second-hand bikes). The house is charming, with amazing views, and the garden is beautiful. It was well-equipped and we had everything we needed for the four months we stayed there (we were travelling from Europe with just one suitcase each). Barbara could not have been more accommodating of our various needs and responded to requests for help very promptly. I could not recommend the place more highly. I should mention, perhaps, that the three of us are very active and were easily able to manage the steep hills in the area; less mobile or active people might want a car; nor were the steep steps down to the house from the street a problem for us - to the contrary, they gave us privacy. We were distraught that you had a bad experience during your stay with us. You are the first guest to have complained about the private path to the guest house (and we have had older guests staying with us in the past). I think that everyone in LA was unprepared for so much rain. We wish that you had spoken to us about it during your stay -- we totally understand your concerns about the rain on the path and would happily have lent you a key so you could have walked through the house if you had preferred to do so. As it was, we assumed since you refused our invitations to join us for breakfast or coffee, and that you didn't knock on our door when you arrived, that you valued your privacy and trusted that you would speak to us about any issues that needed our attention. Good luck with your future travels. Disappointing Cali Family 3/6/2014 5:26:00 PM
We've an superb experience, thanks to Barbara's hospitality. The house is absolutely beautiful and the neighbourhood wonderful. Excellent Sarah Posman 3/6/2014 12:09:00 AM
