This hidden gem lies in a peaceful enclave close to the High Street and Magdalen College. It's the perfect base from which to enjoy Oxford and to explore Blenheim Palace, the Cotswolds, Stratford-on-Avon, Bath, England's wondrous gardens & of course London.

Enjoy alfresco meals in your own riverside garden while bird-watching or seeing the occasional 'punt' drift by, or stargaze on the double swing...
This large, self-contained studio contains a fully-equipped kitchen (with washer and dryer), living area with a 3-seat sofa, private bathroom (with great shower), double bed (with award-winning mattress), private riverside garden. (For safety reasons, we cannot accept children at the property). Free wifi. Guest parking optional.

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION
Forget the bus (or traipsing through the wind and rain on a bike!) : you can walk everywhere from here! You will have the added advantage of being only minutes away from the High Street, University colleges and libraries, as well as from the London & the Airport coach stop (there are frequent direct services to both Heathrow and Gatwick, and 24/24h coaches to central London).
Also within a gentle stroll are fine restaurants and great cafés (including the best tapas bar in England), concert halls, punt hire, Botanical Gardens, the river Thames (where you might see crews training for the Henley regatta) and - last but not least - a late-night supermarket ! Also easy access to Hospitals.

* Magdalen College is where Oscar Wilde studied and CS Lewis taught. The riverside walk goes through the Deer Park and is the most romantic in the whole of Oxford! All this on your doorstep!

I am a visiting fellow from South Africa and stayed at this venue exactly two months in late 2019.

I could not have found a better home and my stayed there enhanced the quality and outcomes of my fellowship. In particular:

- It is ideally located. A two minute walk over Magdalen bridge takes you into the heart of Oxford. Every college and library is within easy walking distance. A five minute walk takes you to the beautiful Christchurch meadows and paths along the Cherwell and Thames. Walk in the other direction and you are straight into East Oxford and the famous Cowley Road with its numerous and diverse restaurants and pubs. Bus stops to London and Heathrow are literally on the door step. You could not do better. Yet despite its centrality it is in a quiet backwater (literally) that feels secluded and peaceful. When you are at home, you can relax, concentrate and feel secure. - The flat itself is comfortable, well equipped and perfect for both work and relaxation. It is clean, self-contained and has all the necessary kitchen accouterments. The little patio onto the river adds to the sense of space (especially, I would imagine, in spring and summer). - What makes it feel special is that it is decorated with paintings and sculptures by the owner, as well as with a variety of books, guides to Oxford and surrounds. It quickly becomes a home from home and I would happily have stayed there for longer. - The owner lives on the premises and is accessible, helpful, friendly and yet not intrusive or over-bearing. - I have no hesitation in unreservedly recommending it.

We had a wonderful stay at the garden studio for a period of 5 weeks. The rental is centrally located with easy access to all the wonderful restaurants on Cowley, St. Clements, and the campus. One can take a jog at the Christ Church meadow nearby, or take a walk at the Angels and Greyhound meadow. With the enchanting garden, you will wake up to the sound of birds in the morning, or hear the bells from the church. Since the house is a bit away from the main road, it is sheltered from the noise and you will always get a good night sleep. The apartment has all the things you need such as cooking and washer/dryer, and the host is always responsive and helpful. All in all, we made the right choice to stay here!
