Rome Testaccio – A quiet and bright retreat in the heart of Rome

Our bright and spacious apartment is located in one of the most beautiful courtyards of Testaccio, the historical neighborhood between the Tiber and the Aventine hill. The apartment is on the 3th floor (with elevator) of a 1929 building, and it combines the historical atmosphere of the area with modern comfort and contemporary design pieces (B&B Italia Metropolitan armchair, Moooi Random, Nesso and Parentesi lightening, Gervasoni bed). It features an open kitchen and dining area, a living room (with two sofa beds), a large bedroom (with a king size bed) and one bathroom (with shower). The apartment overlooks the courtyard, and is fully furnished and equipped with high-speed/wireless internet, dishwasher, washing machine, 22- inch flat-screen TV, dvd player, and autonomous heating. The courtyard provides a green and quiet space, while the neighborhood is full of lively activities. The vibrant area of Testaccio is renowned for its food culture, with a great number of restaurants, coffee bars, gelaterie, wine bars, and one of the best food markets in Rome. Moreover, the immediate vicinity has all the amenities including shops, supermarkets, pharmacies, gyms, art theaters, and movie theaters. On the square there is a playground where kids (and everyone, really) can hang out. Within walking distance there are interesting artistic and cultural centers, such as the MACRO (Contemporary Art Museum), the Città dell’Altra Economia, the Piramide Cestia, the Aventine hill, and Trastevere. We will be happy to provide a map with our recommended eateries and not-to-be-missed art venues. The city bus and subway system will take you to all the major destinations in a few minutes, but you can also walk to places such as Tiber Island, Circus Maximus, Colosseum, or Piazza Navona. In addition to the American Academy in Rome, neighboring institutes, Universities, and cultural institutions include: Università Roma Tre, the American University in Rome, John Cabot University, the FAO, the Biblioteca di Storia Moderna e Contemporanea.
