Private Room plus House Share (2Bed/1Bath) with Quiet Owner and a Fat Cat!

Available April 16th. Private room, direct garden access, in a house share in South Berkeley. $1450.00 USD per month includes all utilities, wifi, offstreet parking, green sunny backyard, access to HUGE movie library, music streaming, etc. This is a lovely 2 BR / 1 BA bungalow in quiet SouthWest Berkeley, near Berkeley Bowl West. You are a "good fit" if you are a quiet, mature, cat-loving visiting scholar / faculty / staff. Very "bike-able" location. 15min to UCB campus, and, yes, I have a bike for you to use.

Some details:
Stylish 1945 bungalow in quiet SW Berkeley neighborhood, near San Pablo & Ashby Aves. Fully furnished house, kitchen, room, etc. 51yr old female owner (me!) and a shy black cat as your housemates. House has golden hardwood floors, colorful throw rugs, 8 ½ ft ceilings throughout, and is 905 sq ft on a 3500 sq ft lot. Lovely back yard, very convenient public & bike & car transportation, hottub, off-street parking, internet access, washer/dryer on premises.

Your room:
• 11 x 11, with private door out to small deck and shared backyard.
• smallish closet ( 2 x 3 ½ ) but, full height ceilings + under bed storage = a LOT of storage space!
• Room is cozy ( does not feel cramped, honest ), even with a queen bed, desk, file cabinet/bookshelf, and rocking chair in the room.
• Keep the door open to the backyard for an expansive feeling -- the green, flowering, relaxing back yard feels like it’s part of your room.
• Room / deck face West and are shaded by large avocado tree -- easily the most consistently temperatured room in the house.

House also has:
• hottub under flowering arbor, & yard with lots of room for veggie gardening (or just reading).
• Modern (small, but clean) bath.
• Modern wide galley kitchen with rustic dark red tile floors, & all dishes, pots / pans, etc that you need. Yes, we share ALL the house common areas: bath, kitchen, yard.
• Central heat, which really, even in winter isn't needed much.
• Street parking is easy. You may use the driveway for off-street parking, however, if you desire.
• Cat is indoor / outdoor. If you leave your door open, he may even sleep on your feet at night...lucky you!

Very convenient neighborhood:
• In flatlands -- easy 15-20min bike ride to UC Berkeley.
• Easy freeway access.
• 2 blocks to an Express bus to SF, 2 blocks to a city bus to UC Campus or to Ashby BART (we are approx 1 mile, a 20min walk to Ashby BART.)
• 2 blocks from huge park (San Pablo Park) – tennis courts, dog runs, soccer and basketball games.
• 3 blocks to Berkeley Bowl West.
• Walking distance to brew pubs, coffee shops, several restaurants, etc. An easy bike ride to LOTS and LOTS more of the same.

Who we are: We are a clean, quiet (but social), food-loving, non-smoking household. We do chi gung / yoga / meditate every day. This is a quiet house in a quiet residential neighborhood. You should love & embrace home as a happy, relaxing place to regenerate. This is a great place to work, relax, read a book, write a book (or a dissertation!).

Monthly rent is $1450.00 and includes wifi access, all utilities, access to hottub and yard, washer/dryer, offstreet parking. I’ll ask you for 1st month + $1450.00 deposit, a credit / reference / employment verification check, and we'll have a detailed conversation about “what do we both expect as housemates, house rules, etc” as part of the application process.

If interested, please e-mail AnnMarieMantz@yahoo.com and let's set up time to talk in more detail! Thanks for your interest!

ps: photos are bit big, you have to "scroll" to really see them, but wanted to show you as much as possible here...thanks.

About Me
Quiet (but fun loving), "mid-career" Recruiting / HR / Coaching / Training professional with 2 shy black cats. Passionate about local healthy / tasty food and flavors, art, music, color, and finding good cheap wine. :-) My home is my quiet relaxation place, and am thrilled my neighbors look out feel the same way (and look out for each other)! Lived abroad for several years, and think everyone should do at least 1 semester abroad. Enjoy interesting people and conversations, creativity in all forms, bike riding along the BayTrail, QiGung, cooking Ethiopian and Indian food, and searching for new "non grain" solution to awesome sourdough "bread" or crackers.
