I was lucky enough to live with the most wonderful host and (now) friend in New Haven while on sabbatical at Yale in the first half of 2018. This is a small Victorian house in historic East Rock that is beautifully restored with antique furniture and Asian artifacts. The nicest things about living here is the serenity and compassion of the host and the kitchen; inspired by Japanese style it is well equipped and spacious. The room you get on on the quiet back side of the house, overlooking the beautiful Japanese garden. A garden that not only grows vegetables but has a certain Zen quality.

I cannot really put into words how much I enjoyed living here.

For the past 10 years, I lived in many places as I had to travel a lot for my work, something that generally involved prolonged stay. In other words, I lived in many places and with many people, so I guess this review is based on experience! There are many great things about Anne’s house: a lovely garden, a very nice kitchen with everything to cook, great room with a nice study, both of perfect size and nicely furnished. The location is great, near East Rock Park and near Yale University. Everything is at walking distance. If you have a car, parking on the street is very easy. Anne’s home is very peaceful and quiet, so this is the perfect place if you need a calm environment conducive to work. The best thing about Anne’s place is Anne herself: she is charming, she is a great roommate, and she is very respectful. She will also help you to find your way around New Haven, like the good addresses for food.I stayed with Anne for 6 months and I really appreciated my experience.
