I rented this beautiful historic farmhouse for the full month of June in 2019. As I was writing a manuscript I looked for something that would be peaceful and quiet and had a very calm environment to work in, while being close to amenities. I was very pleased when I arrived to see that the house was everything I had wanted and more. My daughter who was working with me on the project, stayed as well for the first ten days. There exterior areas have a beautiful courtyard to sit in , as well a nice areas in the back or in the front to work at a table, or enjoy a meal. I often found myself sitting in the back working as the sound of the wildlife was a nice background. I was there for the heat wave and the stone of the house kept it incredibly nice and cool, while in the beginning of the month the weather was quite cool and I was kept very warm with the stove heating. The beds are very comfortable and I slept soundly. As a woman staying by myself for more than half of the month, one of my concerns was feeling safe. I can say, there are neighbors close by that you don't hear, and the area has many families. I felt very safe during my entire stay. The house is very spacious and beautifully decorated. The kitchen is simple and well appointed, and I quite enjoyed cooking with purchases from the surrounding villages. The area is very lovely and I enjoyed many long walks and jogging the area. As well it's an easy walk, or a quick drive to a Supermarche, the bank and post office, as well as to the village where you can shop as well and enjoy historical sights.

It is ideally located that you can drive to many surrounding villages to explore with ease. La Rochelle and the ocean being within 1 hour was a great surprise. I flew into Paris and rented a car. The drive to and from Paris is easy and pleasant. The host couple was amazing and helped with every question, being available if needed, and gave me great tips for the surrounding area. At the end of my stay, I was so comfortable, I was sad to leave. I would definitely rent here again and recommend this lovely historic farmhouse.
