Casa Guayacan

Casa Guayacan is a private home with a two bedroom apartment (and a private entrance) in a rural and tranquil setting 8 minutes to San Juan del Sur.
The neighborhood is mostly a local community with scattered homes built by foreigners. It is quiet and on a cul de sac road limiting traffic. There are pastures for cattle, dense forested areas, a baseball/soccer field, local panaderia and local shop with the basics.
Overall very low key, tranquil and safe.

The home is named after the Guayacan tree (lignum vitae) which translates as the tree of life. It is one of the hardest woods in the world and so dense that it does not float. A number of Guayacan trees adorn the property and will be appreciated by generations to come. The blossoms are beautiful and the seeds attract toucans as a favorite food.

This party posted the following feedback for me:
'Hope is a fabulous host with great taste and attention to detail. She is a worldwide traveler with many stories and experiences to share. Her home is an oasis - a beautiful and well-cared for gem in the cool hills near the Pacific. The living quarters are private and serene looking over a stunning countryside. Loved staying here as well as visiting with her. '

About Me
Originally from Vermont, USA; grew up on a small island in the Grenadines of St Vincent in the West Indies. Worked as a nurse at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland for 16 plus years; US Peace Corps volunteer in Guyana, S America and am currently working with Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (on occasion) since 2006 - mostly in Africa, SE Asia then in Greece and Haiti. After so many years moving around I have created a home base in this wonderful country - and continue the humanitarian spirit through a local foundation and grass roots community projects and conservation projects with a favorite one of humpback whale research. Life here, like anywhere is what you make of it, and if you lean towards amenities there are plenty but if you prefer more of an immersion that is easily accessible as well. There is an abundance of activities to engage in!
