A beautiful house in a picturesque village on the Greek island of Tinos overlooking the Aegean.

A beautiful house in a picturesque village on the Greek island of Tinos, in the middle of the Cyclades. Tinos is surrounded by a number of islands such as Mykonos, Syros, Naxos and Paros, which can be reached by boat. The house is in the village of Triantaros, one of the most beautiful of Tinos, 6 km from the sea, with a breathtaking view of the Agean. The main house is 120 square meters [two floors, one bedroom on each floor with its own bathroom, sitting room and kitchen, two verandas overlooking the sea] and can sleep 4 persons. There is also a guest room that can sleep another two. The house, although situated in the middle of the village, has also a small garden which also overlooks the Aegean. Triantaros has 3 well-known tavernas, a bakery and a playground, which makes it ideal for families with small children as well.

I was born in Italy, raised in Greece and studied in England [Oxford University] where I did all my degrees and completed my doctoral studies in International Relations. I live in Athens and teach at the American College of Greece. I am also a poet, translator of English and American poetry and editor of "Poetics", a biannual literary journal. I have translated into Greek the works of Walt Whitman, Ezra Pound, T.S. Eliot, Wallace Stevens, e.e.cummings, John Ashbery, Anne Carson, and others. My own work has been translated in all major European languages.

We spent two superb weeks in Tinos, and loved the house we stayed in, which greatly enhanced the pleasure of being there. The house is very pleasant, tastefully decorated, individual, we had the feeling of being at home, and not in a rented place. The weather was lovely, so we particularly enjoyed the terraces with the breathtaking seaviews, there was one terrace for breakfast, another one to have dinner and watch the sunset, and it was so beautiful and quiet. But had the weather been a uncertain, we would have enjoyed the house, the living room is so comfortable, and we kept discovering details which told about the landlord's taste and sense of humour. We felt we were part of the village, which is very well located, it was easy to go to the beach and to the main city for shopping or dinner, but the village was a joy too. Walking through the arcades and alleys with canopies and carpets of bougainvilliers, and along the white walls lined with flowers was exhilarating. There is a tavern where, if you can't speak Greek, you can visit the kitchen and choose from the delicious home cooked dishes. We soon felt we were part of the village.

Haris was a very attentionate landlord, and from Athens, he looked after us day after day, had arranged for people to look after us, the car rental, etc... I can recommend this place warmly, and hope it won't be long before I can go back.
