17th Century Granary in the Heart of Ireland

Newbrook House was a part of a great estate belonging to the affluent Lord Clanmorris in the 17th and 18th centuries. Located down a little boreen off the village road, the house and gardens of Newbrook are embraced by the ancient stone-walled garden of the former Clanmorris estate. Newbrook has evolved from an historic granary to a beautiful home and private wing. Today, we celebrate a culmination of all this history, and invite guests to enjoy the perfect harmony of past and present.

About Me
I have been an international lawyer for over 30 years, living and traveling all over the world. Life changed quite unexpectedly, when during a trip home to Co. Mayo last year, I stumbled across a 17th C granary for sale. Without hesitation and in that second I fell in love with the property and woke up in the granary a fortnight later as the new proud owner with my legal career a thing of the past! I am at a loss for words to accurately describe the beauty, the history and the ambience of Newbrook House. I pinch myself every morning to ensure that this is not some beautiful amazing dream. It is a far cry from living in the bright lights and noise of Tokyo, Hong Kong, San Francisco and London. I have never looked back. The property was built in 1670 and is accessed through the original cobblestone lane which opens up to reveal a magnificent stone arch and the granary and stables beyond which are now Newbrook House. There is an acre of working gardens surrounded by a walled garden which in turn is surrounded by the walled garden of the original manor house, the seat of Lord Henry Bingham, which succumbed to fire in the mid-19th century. The West Wing has its own private entrance, mud room, bedroom, bathroom, sitting room with open fireplace and kitchen. Two hand carved antique four poster beds grace the large master bedroom. They are adorned with the finest linens from Foxford Woolen Mills and Hungarian goose down duvets and pillows. The orthopedic mattresses are steam cleaned with tea tree oil after each use. The bathroom boasts a lovely claw footed cast iron bathtub which is perfect for guests who would like to try a seaweed bath - with seaweed sourced from the local beaches. Newbrook House is my passion and my life and I love sharing it with guests and bringing to life its purpose in allowing visitors to experience luxury in the heart of nature.
