About Me
I am a lecturer and Director of Undergraduate Programmes in the Department of Art History at the University of Buckingham. I am originally from Rome but moved to the London to obtain my MA at the Warburg Institute 13 years ago and remained ever since. I have lived in Rome, Florence, Venice, Los Angeles and London. I am currently working on a book on the patronage and collecting of the 1st Duke and Duchess of Northumberland in eighteenth-century Britain, which will be published by Yale University Press. My main interest is the reception of the classical tradition in the Early Modern period, with a particular focus on Britain. In 2015 I co-curated with Anne Varick Lauder the exhibition 'Drawn from the Antique: Artists and the Classical Ideal' at the Teylers Museum in Haarlem and at the Sir John Soane’s Museum in London. I am currently working also on a revised edition of Francis Haskell and Nicholas Penny’s 'Taste and the Antique'.
