Iconic parks, museums, supermarkets, cafes, pubs and restaurants close by, this exceptional, three-story accommodation provides the perfect home for a family in London. For those traveling around by car, there are no parking restrictions outside the house or on surrounding streets.

The top floor of the house provides 2 spacious double bedrooms with king-sized beds, 1 more bedroom with bunk beds and a toddler cot/bed and 1 bathroom. The middle floor provides 1 spacious double bedroom with en-suite bathroom and a large double-through lounge with a marble fireplace, Victorian desk and two comfortable leather sofa-beds that can sleep another 3 people.

The ground floor comprises a large double bed/living room, a separate dining area and an open plan, fully equipped kitchen with granite worktops, brand new range cooker and french doors leading out onto a lovely south-facing garden. This is a fabulous place for outdoor play and al-fresco dining. There is also a downstairs toilet and utility cupboard.

The house has Wifi with unlimited Internet access. The kitchen and dining areas are fully set up for entertaining up to 12 people. The house is also well equipped for babies/toddlers and includes a Mamas & Papas cot-bed, change table and a high-chair.

The Neighbourhood & Surrounding Areas
The historic village of Sydenham in South-East London became famous in the 1640’s when springs of water in Wells Park were discovered to have medicinal properties, attracting crowds of people. The area was also home to Lionel Logue, the Australian speech therapist who “saved the British monarchy” as described in the book and 2011 Oscar-winning film “The King’s Speech”.

Sydenham is now a vibrant residential community with boutique cafes, restaurants and gastro-pubs as well as a quaint book shop, Pure Gym, a well-stocked organic health store, post-office, pharmacies, library and many other shops selling diverse ethnic foods. There is a local Sainsbury's and a Co-Op supermarket for grocery shopping. For more shopping you can hop on a short bus ride to the Bell Green retail complex where there is a huge Sainsbury’s Savacentre selling everything from food to houseware, Next clothing store, B&Q and PC World. There are four beautiful parks all within walking distance including the famous ‘Victorian Pleasure ground’ Crystal Palace Park with it’s full-scale dinosaur sculptures, authentic maze, lake, renovated children’s playground and National Sports centre and athletic stadium.

Dulwich village with an abundance of old-world charm is just a short bus ride away. En route, you will find one of London’s true gems, the family-friendly and free Horniman Museum with its 16-acre botanical gardens, aquarium, petting zoo, glass conservatory and London’s oldest nature trail.

Transport Connections
The house is just 7 mins walk to two train stations both providing excellent direct links to the West end, Central London and the City. Sydenham station is served by London Overground’s East London Line for seamless Tube connectivity, as well as Southern Metro services with fast trains to London Bridge (15mins). Walk 7 mins down the other end of our road to Penge East station, where you can get fast trains to Victoria station (20mins). Gatwick airport is easily accessible by taxi or by train from Sydenham station. There are also many frequent buses that take you to central London as well as the surrounding areas.

Sydenham is located 6 route miles (9.6 km) from London Bridge, 9.7 route miles (15.6 km) from London Victoria.

My wife and I and three children (13, 10, and 8) stayed in this beautiful home for about one month - from late April to late May, 2018. Having booked the home while in Australia, relying primarily on the photos and description on this site, we were not entirely sure what to expect though the description and photos were highly accurate. When we arrived we were very pleasantly surprised.

The three-level terrace home is wide, light throughout, and extremely comfortable with lovely furnishings and attention to detail, and with everything working. All of the bedrooms are spacious - particularly the main bedroom - and the beds are very comfortable. There are various living areas which is great for kids (and parents), and the kitchen opens up to a nice garden area. The kitchen is also well decked out for proper cooking which we did a lot of.

Being in London during Spring, we experienced a range of weather conditions, from near snow-like to heat-wave! The home is well geared up for either cold or warm conditions. The automatic heating system, which can be manually boosted and also reset to a different temperature if required, worked extremely well and we were never cold inside - always very comfortable. On warm days opening the windows allowed breezes to pass through the home.

The home is nicely positioned being equidistant (5 min walk) from two train stations (Penge East; Sydenham) on different lines, which provided great flexibility to get to various parts of London. There is an excellent bus service which goes all the way from Sydenham to Denmark Hill (and beyond) where I was based at King's College - very convenient - and to other parts of London

For grocery shopping, there is a small but good Tesco near Sydenham station and a huge Sainsbury's a bit further down Sydenham Road which is best accessed by car. We hired a car while in London (mainly for our longer weekend trips out of London) and always found parking spots within a one minute walk of the home and quite often right in front of the home.

There are some lovely parks within walking distance of the home which had just come back to full leaf and flower in Spring and were a delight to be in - lush green and full of colour. Our kids particularly liked seeing the squirrels running about which we do not have in Australia.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in London which had a lot to do with all of us feeling immediately comfortable in this home. It really felt like a home away from home which we all missed once we left. We have great memories of our trip and this home was a central part of that. If we were doing the trip again next year we would all choose to stay at this home. The owners are also lovely people to communicate with.

I highly recommend the home.
