About Me
I am an emeritus professor in Cultural Studies, whose research in the field of youth culture, race, and urban regeneration has an international profile , and is focused on the East end of London. I have recently published a study of the impact of the Olympics on the area 'On the Wrong Side of the Track?'. Also a memoir 'Reading Room Only'. My flat is full of books and original artworks and is situated in the kind of vibrant inner city neighbourhood which I have come to love and cherish as representing the best hope for a multicultural society.

My wife, baby, and I stayed in Phil's flat from June to August of 2019 while I was doing research at the British Library. Both the flat and the neighborhood were excellent. Phil was easy to communicate with, and was very accommodating when an issue cropped up about works the building was undergoing. We would happily stay there again if schedules warranted!
