beautiful, modern, airy, sunny house in London's East End
An elegant one-bedroom residence in an early 20th century brick building, this two-story mews house consists of an upstairs open-plan kitchen/reception room, with windows on all four sides, and a downstairs bedroom and bathroom. The interior was sensitively refurbished keeping Crittal windows and wood floors upstairs, while adding modern fixtures, additional windows, and polished concrete floors below. Every effort was made to maximise natural light, including by the installation of a double-height glazed entrance at the front.
The house is offered fully furnished — tastefully decorated with mid-century antiques, modernist furniture, and vintage film posters. (But please note that the furnishings have changed since the above photos were taken.)
The house is located in the East End, well positioned between the Bethnal Green tube station (Central Line) and the green spaces of Victoria Park. It is close to numerous excellent local cafes, pubs, and restaurants, including Quarantacinque, the Typing Room, and the Corner Room.
It is within walking distance of Regent’s Canal, the popular Broadway Market, and the Columbia Road Flower Market, held every Sunday. Uber-trendy Shoreditch, Hackney, Dalston, and Spitalfields can be reached via a short tube ride or a half hour’s walk. It is 15 minutes to/from Central London via the Tube.
The house forms part of a quiet mews of brick Victorian buildings tucked away off Roman Road, close to the junction with Cambridge Heath Road.
