Quiet, light, secure, river condo in heart of SE1 London

Very bright, well situated apartment in a very attractive, quiet, contemporary development set away from the road, in its own grounds, in Central London. The apartment is in excellent condition. It is on the 5th floor (with elevator as well as stairs), and has beautiful Thames views from the large living room and balcony (with chairs and table) through French doors off the living room. This also overlooks gorgeous landscaped water gardens (with ducks, fish and occasional heron).
The spacious living room is very light, with double-doors through to the hallway, glass dining table (seats 4-6), two sofas and large arm chair. Fiber-optic high-speed wi-fi, digital freeview flat screen smart television, dvd player, stereo systems. The apartment has an en-suite master bedroom, with very good quality, (UK) king-sized mattress, modern bathroom fixtures (including a bidet and bath with shower), Second bathroom with shower stall, second bedroom can be used as a study/ office and has a very good quality single bed. There is modern, well-equipped kitchen (microwave, grill, double oven, washer/ dryer machine, dishwasher), and is fully equipped (with cafetiere, coffee grinder, blender, toaster etc). The second sofa/ John Lewis contemporary day-bed in the living room makes an excellent spot for relaxing, listening to music, watching tv, and for occasional guests. The complex also has a gym/ sauna, and secure, underground parking.
All utilities are included (including local telephone calls), fortnightly clean, and the cost of a standard final clean after leaving.
The apartment is 5 minutes walk to Bermondsey Station (on the Jubilee Line). Northern and Central Line stations are also within 15 minutes walk. Going west along the river from the condo, you will pass the just opened Bridge Theatre, London's city hall, the Globe Theatre, Tate Modern, and South Bank (London's premier arts-complex, including the National Theatre, and Royal Festival Hall). Across the river is the Tower of London, opposite is St Katherine's Docks, and beyond that the City, Covent Garden and the West End. The Barbican and Brick Lane can be easily reached (by foot or public transportation).
Subway and buses close to the apartment provide excellent access to different parts of London. Within 5 minutes walk, the 188 bus, for instance, takes you to Bloomsbury (SOAS, UCL, passing King's, LSE and SBU). River boat transportation also takes you west towards Westminster and east to Canary Wharf and Greenwich. Within 5-10 minutes walk, there are a range of delis and local supermarkets. A large Waitrose is 20 minutes walk away.
The condo is located in Shad Thames, a spectacular area of ultra-modern and historic buildings in what was the old warehouse district, and is now a mixture of conversions, new condos, restaurants (for outdoor and indoor eating), and stunning high tech architecture.

We had a wonderful 4 month stay here, Winter/Spring 2014. The flat is comfortable and well-appointed– a very pleasant space, both day and night. We especially enjoyed the view over the river. The location is amazingly quiet for central London (perhaps it will be noisier in summer with open windows and people on balconies– that said, it was very nice to be able to step out onto the balcony, even in winter-spring). The complex is safe, secure, and well maintained; the gardens, in particular, are just magnificent. The concierge is helpful, dependable, and always available to receive deliveries. We appreciated the well-stocked new Tesco supermarket very close by, and a bit further away, the famous Borough Market for weekly delights. The Thames Path is right at the garden gate with great walks and terrific views, east and west. It was our first time south of the river (we’ve usually rented in Bloomsbury or Islington) and we loved exploring this area (excellent restaurants, particularly on nearby Borough High St., and museums, pubs, and shops; even a beach for mudlarks at low tide). As well, we found that the nearby bus routes and two local tube stations were good for easy travel all over London. One unexpected benefit was the fact that there are a couple of short-term holiday rental units in the complex (found via Expedia), where visiting family members were able to stay. My wife and I had a terrific stay in this apartment. It was very clean, very well organised, everything very straightforward. Great set up for working at home - office is excellent. Apartment is in a great location, and very safe. We felt at home straight away.

This is good value for a two bed with a view of the river, so close to transport and shops/restaurants. We'll stay here again next time we are in London - many thanks, Davina!
