This place worked out perfectly for my short stay over the holiday period. For the location + price, you're unlikely to get a better deal. Sara Jane makes efficient use of a small space, and you truly have everything that you need. Russell Square tube station is practically at your doorstep, and anything in zone 1 is so quickly and easily reachable. There's a Waitrose as well as a Tesco Express just a stone's throw away, and the laundromat is convenient - close enough, and easy to use.

The futon was comfortable as a bed - note that I found that sleeping in the middle works best because of the way it folds out. To sit on during the day, it was also fine for shorter periods; it's a futon, not a luxury sofa, but the point of the apartment is to have a convenient place to sleep, and to be out doing things during the day rather than sitting on the sofa. That said, I liked the way that the futon folded up and when moved back against the wall during daytime, more space is created than one would necessarily expect. I was able to do yoga here, no problem :).

The bathroom is very compact, like the rest of the space, but has what one person needs. It even has a tub, which amazes me - I would have expected just a shower! There is a small storage corner unit on the sink for your toiletry products, and a little bit of room in cabinet above the toilet - along with various essentials that others have left. Everything feels well-stocked and available for use to make you comfortable during your stay.

The little "kitchen," behind a set of doors, is basic but thoughtfully supplied with all that you need. I didn't try to cook, although a portable cook top is provided - I made due with the microwave, sink, and small counter space. The feeling is that this is for people on the go rather than gourmet chefs, though SJ mentioned that she had one guest for a year who cooked his own food daily - so apparently it can be done!

I'll mention two minor things - keeping in mind that no place is perfect! - just so that others have a heads up. One was controlling the temperature at night (I was there in December). I found that even with the radiator switched off, the apartment stays somewhat warm, but opening the window for air naturally meant a fair amount of street noise, so it was a trade-off. If you prefer a warmer room at night in the winter, then this won't be an issue for you (I prefer to sleep in cool rooms when possible, but think I'm in the minority with that)! The other minor issue was controlling the shower temperature; it was very sensitive, so moving the handle just a couple cm's could take you from cool-ish to VERY hot! Just be cautious, and set the water temp before you get in. Water pressure was fine, and hot water was continuous - once I got the temp right, I enjoyed my showers here!

The door attendants are lovely, and there's a really nice vibe in this building; very friendly and homey. For a large apartment building, it's notably quiet the majority of the time due to the old-style thick walls; I never heard people next door, above or below, and rarely heard people in the hallway. You can hear what I assume is the heat or water system switching on and off periodically, but there are far worse things in life... For such a centrally located apartment, I seriously doubt you could find quieter!

Sara Jane was extremely communicative before and during my stay, and really went above and beyond in working with me so that my short stay would be pleasant, which I SO appreciated. Thanks very much, Sara Jane!

I let this lovely flat for two months during a research visit in London. The flat is clean, quiet, comfortable, compact, and well-equipped. The photos are accurate. The building is clean and secure (flat on 8th floor, with elevator, doorman), and very conveniently located (an understatement), near tube, shopping, university, and museum. SJ was always responsive, helpful, fair, trustworthy, and responsible in corresponding, conveying expectations, and conducting the business. Recommended. I just wanted to say thanks to the Landlady for enabling me to have a fantastic London experience renting her studio for 10 weeks. The flat is beautifully located, close to many of London based universities. I used 10 minutes to walk to the LSE campus, where I had my visiting appointment. UCL and SOAS are even closer to the flat. There are parks in the area, and there are nice independent shops and coffee places really close. I had no problems during the stay, and the Landlady responded quickly to my questions and dealt with contract and other administrative details quite effectively. Highly recommended! The apartment is small, but there is plenty of room for one person. It is well-equipped and it has everything you will need during your stay in London. It is located on one of the top floors with a wonderful view and lots of light. I felt at home right away (and loved the old creaking lift) The bulding is very nice with a doorman 24/7. It has a perfect location whether you want to explore London or you will be visiting one of the nearby libraries or one of the universities. In the neighbourhood you'll find excellent shops, restaurants, pretty squares, and in general I found that Bloomsbury was a fantastic area. Sara Jane was an excellent landlady. If there was anything at all, she'd get back to me right away. If I ever get the chance to spend a longer period of time in London again, I'll definately return to Russell Court. This was the perfect flat for a summer of research. The location couldn't be bettered: Russell Square tube just around the corner, Euston, St. Pancras, and Kings Cross stations ten minutes' walk away, Russell Square itself on the doorstep and the British Museum just across the square, Senate House and the British Library within ten minutes' walk. The shops, restaurants, pretty squares, and picturesque mews of Bloomsbury are fantastic--you will never be bored or hungry in this flat!

Despite the bustling surroundings, the flat itself is a quiet, sunny oasis of calm with a wonderful view over the rooftops to the spires of St. Pancras and the towers of the Barbican Centre. The little kitchen is well-equipped, and the flat itself is spacious enough to welcome a friend or two for tea. There's plenty of storage for clothes, toiletries and books. The table makes an excellent workspace, and the futon is equally comfortable as a sofa or bed. The area and the building are secure; I never felt unsafe. The porters are friendly and helpful, and Sara Jane was wonderful to deal with: organized, practical, welcoming, and very quick to respond to any queries. I would love to stay here again!
