Garden Flat in Chelsea, Central London SW10 - a pretty garden flat located on a quiet street in Chelsea, London, SW10, close to public transport and local amenities

Central London: A comfortable and secure one double-bedroom garden/basement flat, close to shops and restaurants and just a 5 to 10 minute walk from Earls Court tube station and minutes from major bus routes. The flat is easily accessed from London's main airports (Heathrow and Gatwick) as well as train stations (such as Victoria, Paddington, Charing Cross, Euston and St Pancreas Stations). Also within easy reach by public transport of all major London universities, colleges and research libraries. Imperial and the Royal Colleges of Music and Art are about a 20 minute walk away. Earls Court tube station, a hub station for most of the underground lines serving central and suburban London, is a 5 to 10 minute walk depending on your pace.

The accommodation includes one double bedroom with a bay window and lots of cupboard/storage space; good-sized sitting room; bathroom with shower/bath; fully equipped, small kitchen (gas hob, electric oven, microwave, coffee machine, dishwasher, large fridge and freezer etc; utility room (washing machine and dryer) and light-filled dining room/conservatory (dining table seats eight comfortably although there are chairs for more) leading onto the south-facing garden (about 5m by 18m) which is great for sitting and eating outside (table and chairs provided) and tended by a monthly visit from our gardener by prior arrangement.

Please be advised that the flat is a garden flat and therefore the flat entrance is down a few steps at the front of the house and there are also five or six steps up into larger part of the garden. However it is very light and airy and the entrance to the flat is via a small front 'area/garden' - not at all dark and dingy!

The flat is attractively furnished and well maintained, with all mod cons including high speed internet and wireless network, Sky TV, DVD player and music system - these are included in the rental price. The apartment is centrally heated with an adjustable thermostat to ensure you are comfortable - whatever the weather.

The apartment is in a quiet residential street close to shops (several supermarkets, coffee shops and French patisseries, book shops etc), many restaurants and pubs, cafes, cinemas, libraries, underground stations with direct tube to the central London and Heathrow, major bus routes, and a direct rail link to Wimbledon, Gatwick and the South - all within 5/10 minutes walk.

Kings Road, Fulham Road, South Kensington, Knightsbridge, High Street Kensington and Earls Court are all close by, as well as the South Kensington museums and the Royal Albert Hall. All major London universities and colleges are easy to get to.

The flat is equidistant between London's beautiful Hyde Park/Kensington Gardens and Battersea Park, as well as being a five minute walk away from one of London's famous cemeteries - The Brompton Cemetery, which is an interesting place and has guided tours at weekends.

Our cleaner will visit once a week to change and wash bed linen and do general cleaning. We ask for a contribution towards this.

'This apartment near Redcliffe Square in Chelsea is delight to return to each day -- comfortable, cozy and well appointed. A glass-ceilinged room leads to a garden, and gives an airy feel to the living area. For long-term stays, the handy laundry and efficient kitchen make life easier.

Bus stops are only a few steps away and give easy access to Earl's Court for shops and the Tube, or, a bit farther north, a Tesco.

One could grow accustomed to life at 9 Redcliffe

'This property is trustworthy in every way. The images and information on the website are accurate and the financial arrangements with Noelle are straightforward. The location is ideal for research – Earl’s Court tube is within easy walking distance with access via Piccadilly line to the British Library or via District line to the National Archives, Kew – and perfect for enjoying all that London has to offer. The personal touches (paintings, books, photographs, music, tv, wifi), high-quality features and fittings, and the beautiful high-walled garden (complete with roses and bumblebees) made it a lovely place to come home to at the end of the day. We will definitely be returning.' Stayed some of May/June 2012.

And from the brilliant Argentinian mathematician and economist Dr Marzia Raybaudi, who stayed in the flat for three months with her husband (an equally brilliant mathematician) and their son from the beginning of the year until end of March 2012:

"We had a wonderful time in this extremely nice and cosy basement one bedroom garden flat. We rent every year for three months in London and it is not easy to find a nice flat at a reasonable price and well located. We did at last!
The flat is close to transport (7 minutes walk to Earl's Court tube station) and at walking distance from Kings Road, High Street Kensington, South Kensington and Fulham.
It is warm and very well accessoried (it even has a Nespresso machine!!!)
The terms of the contract were very clear and the relationship with the landlady was very nice and smooth (entirely on line). We would definitely love to go back in the future."

We have a flat in London but find ourselves often absent from the UK and wish to offer it to let. For 20 years we lived most of the year in Italy. Now we have a new house in the Loire Valley in France to restore so we decided that from time to time we would let our London flat to overseas visitors.

I loved this cozy yet spacious garden flat. It is beautifully appointed (real art on the walls, lots of books, and comfortable furniture) and the kitchen has absolutely everything you need. In the past I've stayed in a number of London flats for a month + at a time, and this is the best yet by far -- and the quietest. It's on a peaceful residential street, yet just an 8 minute walk from Tube and everything else you might need (including an A&E!). The flat itself is, by London standards, very spacious, and it's also tastefully decorated and well equipped. In some short-stay flats the furniture are all cast offs, but not here, the bed is quite nice and the sofa very comfortable for an evening's reading or movies (TV-video set up is excellent). Many flats also lack closet space or even a wardrobe--not so here. The BR has a REAL closet, not just an exposed hanging rack in the room (yes, that is too common in other flats). In the past I have stayed in flats where nothing quite works properly --again, not so here! All the kitchen appliances are newish and they all work, too. The flat has abundant hot water (most other London flats have tiny water-heater tanks (good for about 1/2 a shower even by California short-shower standards) and the heat works perfectly (I stayed here in January!). I am also keen on fresh air, so it was nice to be able to open the front door and the rear conservatory door as well as the BR window, and still feel safe in a garden apartment because of the security gates etc. I love to cook so I especially appreciated the well-equipped kitchen, with a convection-option oven and a newish gas range top. I vastly prefer cooking with gas and few London apartments offer that. I must say too that the conservatory provides lots of light and is very cheery even on dreary days. It leads out into a sweet little garden with many mature plantings, where even in January some plants are in bloom and I was able to take my morning coffee outside and relax and enjoy the flower scents and the chirping birds. The garden is very private and quiet--an oasis in the midst of a busy city. Finally, I should also note that the owner, Noelle, responds to questions very quickly and her cleaner, Elsa, does a marvelous job, as well. I had a lovely stay and I'm sure you will as well! I enjoyed this flat so much, I would like to stay here every time I go to London.

From the very first contact, Noelle P. was quick to respond and a pleasure to do business with. She has created a truly pretty and welcoming flat and has anticipated so many of her visitors' needs.

Some of the best aspects of the flat are its comfortable and attractive furnishings; its thoughtful practicalities like laundry facilities and a robust internet connection; the garden -- which was so delightful to return to that we had trouble motivating to go out again in the evenings; the amazing level of quiet; and the location itself, central enough to be close to the heart of London, but removed enough to be leafy and residential. Grocery stores, restaurants, and pubs are all quite close by, and there are many options for public transportation.

The only hesitation I might have in recommending this flat is worrying that it will from now on be booked up by others, because it really is that nice.

We just returned from a stay in this lovely flat, and I would like to confirm all of the positive reviews. Although the photographs are accurate as far as they go, they do not capture the charm and comfort of the place itself. Even on one of the hottest June days in decades, the flat was cool and comfortable. I was hesitant about a garden flat, but Noelle's place has excellent windows, is very bright, and has no "basement feel." The conservatory and back garden were both favorite locations to eat dinner, the kitchen is well-equipped, the bed is extremely comfortable, and several grocery stores are close by. The quiet street, strong internet signal, and Sky TV were also welcome in the evenings after a day of research. Because the nearby Earl's Court Station is on the Piccadilly Line from Heathrow (with a lift from the tube to street level!), access to and from the airport is excellent. You will find Noelle to be helpful in answering any questions you may have. 9A Redcliffe Street, London SW10 9DR (RECOMMENDATION)

A couple serious about living actively in west central London could not ask for a better location than this one-bedroom garden flat just 1-3 blocks from bus routes to Piccadilly and Warren St. (14), Sloane Square and Victoria Station (C1), all via South Kensington and Knightsbridge, and on a north-south route through High Street Kensington (328). It is about a mile walk from Earl’s Court Station, a bitter further to South Kensington Station. Among our favorite discoveries: a cutting edge, 50-seat, affordable theatre around the corner (Finborough), a great tapas restaurant on the Old Brompton Rd., and easy access to Bishop’s Park and Fulham Palace, with café, lawns, and walled garden and walks. Also, a bonus for us at age 75, there is a health clinic discreetly located across the street. This is a “human-scale” as well as nicely gentrified Victorian neighborhood, full of gardens and relatively quiet residential streets. There are several fresh food markets by major chains nearby, making healthy eating easy and fun. We had no trouble as “locavores,” delighting in green “flower sprouts” from Lincolnshire as a new vegetable, and a feast of West Sussex berries and double cream from May onward. This flat may seem small to many Americans, but it is cozy and tastefully decorated by the cultured owners, but obviously lived in and loved. The view from the sitting room and conservatory is on the raised brick patio and flower beds, which even in January had blooms. Just as pleasing, we were surrounded by original art in every room. The bedroom is lit by a bay window facing the front and stately rows of houses, reflected in the quintessentially English, mirrored, fitted cupboards. The water in the shower was always warm! The kitchen was perfect for us: we could reach everything from one spot. We liked having a weekly laundress/cleaner, but this flat would not be difficult to keep up. Most important: The owners were perfectly wonderful, addressing questions by email and arranging to meet our needs almost immediately, even though they were out of the country. They were on first contact very businesslike, yet we developed a very good friendship over our six month stay (Jan 7-July 3, 2014).
