Magnificant Los Angeles Mansion for the summer

Our beautiful house is a classical home with over 7000 square feet of
elegant space in the heart of Hancock Park, the "old money" area of Los
Angeles built in the 1920s. It is furnished with antiques, oil paintings
and Persian carpets. There is a splendid wood paneled dining room, a
sequence of living rooms, a huge kitchen with every appliance and a
charming informal dining area overlooking the garden and pool. A
dramatic twin winding staircase sweeps you up to a splendid master
suite with a room size closet, spa bath, lanai where you have views
of the Los Angeles skyline. There is a large paneled library and two
further bedrooms and bathrooms. The house has several lovely terraces,
an attractive private garden and a new saltwater pool to ensure that
you enjoy the outdoor summer life of Los Angeles. The home is ideally
located in a very quiet area that is an pleasant stroll to the
restaurants and shops of Larchmont Village. It is in easy driving
distance of most of the major centers in Los Angeles. In particular,
it is convenient for the University of Southern California and UCLA.

Our gardener, pool service and housekeeper are included in the rent.

We seek a responsible tenant who will appreciate and enjoy the
opportunity to spend the summer in an exceptional home.

About Me
We are professors at USC. We live in Los Angeles in a lovely large house during the academic year and we live in our elegant Paris apartment in the summers. Both homes are available to careful, appreciative tenants when we are not living there ourselves.

We (an American academic couple on sabbatical) rented this lovely flat for 6 months, January-June, 2016, and we would happily return in a heartbeat. Our third Paris sabbatical rental, this apartment is our favorite, with its sunny, spacious, elegantly furnished front rooms, its well-set up cooking kitchen, and a quiet bedroom and a courtyard overlooking the interior courtyard.

Located on a very quiet and picturesque residential street—we saw fashion magazines do photo shoots right there—the apartment is situated just outside the tourist zone, in a neighborhood inhabited by Parisiens living their regular lives. (One point in this regard is that a very light sleeper sometimes stays in the apartment below, and he is a strong defender of Paris apartment noise etiquette; as is true of many Parisian apartment buildings, noise carries easily.) The delightful concierge is helpful and welcoming.

The apartment is thoughtfully set up and cared for, and if we needed help from our English-speaking landlords they were always responsive, attentive and easy to work with. Their Paris-based caretakers were also terrific.

The apartment is near Les Invalides, close to two metro lines (#6 and #10), and walking distance from two good boulangers and the market street, rue Lecourbe. Best of all, it is just steps away from the fabulous twice-weekly marché Saxe-Breuteil, which food writer Patricia Wells calls one of Paris’s largest and best open air markets. (Wells’ “Paris Food Lover’s Guide” app includes a great write-up on this market’s highlights.)

Last but not least, both street corners have views of the Eiffel tower. What a treat to walk back and see its glittering profile welcoming us home. A magical apartment in a magical city.

We stayed for a month in this Paris apartment. It is as described, a very large apartment with a large living room, dining room and nice size kitchen. and a large office with a fold out bed. Beautifully appointed, it feels more like a home than an apartment. There are two Metro lines very close to the apartment, and another a few blocks walk, which makes it very convenient to get anywhere in Paris and beyond. It is a nice quiet neighborhood and has a wonderful large market a block or so away that is there twice a week on Thursday and Saturday. The vegetables, fruit, meat, cheese and fish are in abundance as are cooked selections. We were very pleased with our stay there and would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in a real neighborhood in Paris that is not jammed with tourists.
