Le Remède (The Remedy) in Historic Centre close to Conference Centre

My wife and I stayed at John Hickman's apartment La Remede January through March 2020. John was an exemplary host. Everything he said about the apartment was accurate; his dealings with us were thorough, fair, and direct; and he was very personable and pleasure to deal with. The apartment was well decorated in good quality furniture with a comfortable bed and new linens. We particularly liked the general atmosphere of the apartment. The bookshelves held a diverse range of books that kept us entertained for our whole stay. The location could not be better. A quick walk got us to the Botanical Gardens or the Musee Fabre or the market at Les Halles. John always quickly responded to our phone calls and was very helpful. My wife became ill while we were there and John, and his Montpellier friends, guided us through the medical system. Our stay was cut short by two weeks due the advancement of the Covid 19 virus into Southern France in March. John generously refunded the two weeks off of the rent. As a recently retired couple we spontaneously decided to live in Montpellier for 3 1/2 months. It turned out to be an exciting, pleasant, in many ways instructive and enriching experience for us with Le Remède being an ideal base for our activities. The apartment is situated in the heart of the city, very inviting, practical and clean, tastefully renovated and equipped with high quality furniture and utensils. Right across the street there is a museum of modern art, its cafe is outstanding with a casual atmosphere, good food and wines and a great inner courtyard. There are also apartments for art students in the museum complex, now and again -- especially on weekends -- it can get louder into the night, but usually Le Remède is a quiet and peaceful place with an exceptional flair. John as a host is a very reliable person, friendly and helpful. It was always easy to get in touch, and we appreciated his fine taste, his sense for quality and his good humour. We enjoyed being at Le Remède and can highly recommend a stay there.

I had a wonderful time in John's apartment. Very centrally located, yet quiet, the apartment is very spacious, well-decorated with great attention to details (contemporary), and an amazing selection of reading materials. Everything in the place speaks of high-quality and taste: very comfortable bed, abundant bed linens and towels, selection of teas and coffees he left for me, even bottle of fine rosé wine! Gas kitchen (a rare phenomenon these days) has all possible amenities you could think of, high quality cooking utensils and a spacious storage. John was an absolute pleasure to deal with, very understanding and patient while I was navigating through french administration nightmare of settling in Montpellier. He also graciously accepted my having to cut the rental agreement short due to some personal choices I made. I would highly recommend staying in John's apartment - it was an invaluable part of my very enjoyable experience of living and studying in Montpellier, Rena Ahmadova

Wonderful experience. Lovely modern apartment in a prime location in Montpellier. Close to everything cafes, restaurants, La Place de la Comedie, the Botanical Gardens, etc. Easy communication and quick response time with John. Clean and spacious. Merci beaucoup pour votre aide John. We had a great month in Montpellier and I am very grateful that it all worked out so easily.
