Greenvich Village / Chelsea - great location, great apartment for faculty on sabbatical

West 15th street is part of the West Village, on the border to Chelsea. Subways 1, 2, 3 and A, C, E on 14th Street/ 8th Avenue are five minutes away. Union Square offers connections for 4, 5, 6 and Q trains, just to name a few options, this is ten minutes walking distance.

The Building is part of NYU Faculty Housing and is kept at the highest standard. Doormen service for 24 hours provides security and can help you with anything you might need. Guests have to be announced and registered with the doormen. Tenants are all NYU faculty and quiet neighbors. The apartment is not facing 15th Street but the back courtyard of the building. The view is typical New York: some blue sky, some trees, but also another building in front of you. Still, there is a lot of light and it is very quiet. The apartment is on the 4th floor (elevator available).

The apartment: The master bedroom contains a European-style bed and is connected to a large bathroom (shower, bath tub, two sinks). The other bedroom has a convertible sofa, a writing desk, a TV, and enough shelves to make it a nice office or a guest room. The living room has a sofa, a rocking chair, and an expandable dining table with 4 chairs (more chairs in the closet). Lots of closet space (even though some of it might be consumed with my stuff) and there is a washer & dryer as well as a second bathroom (equipped with one bath tub, one sink). The kitchen has an over-sized fridge, a turkey-sized oven, a microwave and everything else you need just in case you don’t want to go out for a change. The apartment is ideal for a couple. There is an AC system and two fans to keep you cool in the summer.

The rent and extra charges: The monthly rent (respecting NYU rules for subletting) is $3800. This includes surcharge for a furnished apartment, further charges, such as electricity, internet and basic TV. I want to have one month of deposit before the sub-lease is signed.

The plants: Once you see the pictures, you realize that the place is densely populated with plants. “Monster”, who dominates the living room, is my favorite and it would hurt me to see it dried out or drowned. The others are pretty tough and will survive with some love and care and some water.

I am looking for somebody to stay in my place and feel at home – while respecting my property and the rules of the house.
The apartment will be cleaned before use and will be low risk regarding virus infections.

About Me
I am a Professor at NYU, living in NYC for 14 years. I come from Germany, lived in Romania, Italy, France, and Belgium. I have experience subletting my apartment in NYC during summers and during sabbaticals and always had a good experience. I have lots of plants and hope to find someone who knows how to water my plants. I live in NYU faculty housing, which means that the apartment is much more reasonable than market value.
